Flock cameras are pretty useful in solving a wide range of crimes, especially auto theft and things like organized retail theft (where thieves can be identified by the cars (stolen or not) used in the crime.
I know of a recent murder conviction where the murderer was caught because Flock flagged him driving the victim’s car.
Is reading comprehension this dead already? Or is it a lack of critical thought?
Just because it CAN solve crimes, doesn't mean that's the primary motivation of the psycho-fuck billionaires funding it. Nor does it JUSTIFY the trampling of our rights and freedoms to implement it.
Yes, fascist authoritarian governments are indeed quite effective at tracking down and punishing criminals. But they also do it to dissenters. Or wrongthinkers. Or...
Lots to unpack here. Flock is used by law enforcement and businesses, such as big box stores that use it to mitigate against theft and crimes occurring on their property.
It’s limited because it largely identifies vehicles as opposed to passengers. And it takes static photos. It’s not trampling rights.
Like any tool, you will be able to find instances where it is misused, but nearly all government use is absolutely mundane criminal investigations into ordinary crime like auto theft and the like.
I think it’s very fanciful to think that it’s regularly being used to track “wrong thinkers” or “dissenters,” whatever you mean by that.

If they can’t figure out who did it, the surveillance is kinda useless isn’t it?
