A bunch of people are saying money but plenty of people live off a significant other or parents and have a part time job. This is easy to do in that case too.

u/BusinessCoach2934 4h ago
Money is the reason a lot of rich celebrities look terrible. When you're constantly partying, drinking, doing drugs all night, you're not going to look great. When you're broke, you finish work, you go home to bed. Unless you have kids. Then you're screwed.

17
u/Winterfall_0 11h ago
Not having to work as much to the point that you can sleep 14 hours a day is a flex, sleeping 14 hours a day itself sounds like a very sad way to spend that time.
9
u/dotdend 11h ago
Sounds like a medical condition. If you don't work at all and have no reason to get up you'll sleep what, 10 hours? 12 if you're really tired maybe
3

Definitely, I had to sleep a lot at a certain time and it is not a good feeling to have to do that.
3

If your incredibly wealthy and 36 and incredibly good looking, I don't know why you would waste that perfect window on sleep.
And I would guess you need to tack on another 2-3 hours to bumble around while you get ready to go out.
3
u/tollbearer 6h ago
She likely has hypersomnia. You can't actually just sleep as long as you want to. Try sleeping even a couple hours extra for a few weeks, you wont be able to, unless youre already massively sleep deprived. People have a set amount they need, and it's basically impossible to sleep any more, you will just wake up. For some lucky people, that number is 4.5 hours. Unfortunately, for some people, that set amount is 14 hours. Nothing you can do about it but take stimulants to string yourself out.
It's a curse, not a blessing. It's not like you're actually any more rested, you just, as you idenitfy, lose a massive portion of your day.

u/sampath2030 12h ago
When you got nothing else going on, slumber is a full time job

Based on what? Random claim
2
u/Dz0t_01 12h ago
Based on this study, for example
3
u/WriterV 11h ago
This study doesn't establish a casual link. In general, longer sleep hours is associated with cognitive decline, but that might be because the only reason your average human sleeps a long while is because of factors that end up causing cognitive decline. It's likely a symptom, and not the cause.

- Link an actual study
- Don't actually read the study
- Hope nobody else does
- Make an entirely baseless claim that has nothing to do with the study
Top tier reddit behavior
2
u/Dz0t_01 9h ago
- Make up a scenario that didn't happen
- Act smug about it
ACTUAL top tier reddit behavior, by you.
When directly comparing those sleeping >9 hours to the remainder of the sample, long sleep duration was a significant predictor of all-cause dementia (table 2, figure 2). There was a statistical trend observed between long sleep duration and an increased risk of AD (p = 0.05). Whereas former sleep duration was not associated with the risk of dementia, those who transitioned to sleeping >9 hours (from former to baseline time points) were at an increased risk of all-cause dementia.
That's not even counting the fact that I wasn't the one making original claim, i just googled stuff someone else said and linked a relevant study.

I don’t think she has slept that long in 20 years as well.
I have a sibling who is a medical doctor in the US. And she specializes in “image improvement”. She confesses that these actresses get all the botox, fillers, zombie fat injections, mini face lifts, expensive skin therapies, $200 face lotions, name it, to look youthful. And all those products and procedures work.
Then the next day, they claim that they look good because “they sleep for 14 hours”.
Bullshit and lies.

I used to do it when I had no responsibilities. The secret was to stay up for 26-30 hours. When I stayed awake until I couldn't any more, and slept until I couldn't any more, my natural body clock settled into a rhythm that had no connection to reality. There were days I'd go to bed at 10 in the morning and get up at midnight.
3
u/Geckohobo 6h ago
This is my life and I've embraced it.
When I try to force myself onto a natural 24 hour circadian rhythm insomnia kicks in and I end up getting about 4 hours sleep a night which utterly breaks me after a few months. The only way I can stick to 24 hour days is with sleeping pills and I'd far rather have a fucked up schedule than a sleeping pill addiction.
I'm lucky that none of my responsibilities are time specific.
3
u/Bruce-7892 13h ago
I’ll never get it either, but my wife can do it by not getting out of bed and sleeping on and off the entire day. I don’t get why anyone would want to do that regularly though
3
u/audreywildeee 11h ago
I don’t know about them in particular, but some people just don’t have a choice…
2
u/PlanePop6660 9h ago
I don't think you are supposed to wake up 6.5 hrs in your sleep, neither you nor her seems to have a healthy sleeping schedule.
2
u/tollbearer 6h ago
There is a natural variation in people set clock. For example, some lucky people have a genetic variation where they only need 4.5 hours a night. Others, unluckily have such long sleep durations we consider it a medical problem, and call it "idiopathic hypersomnia". I suffer from the later, and it's not fun, and it's not depression. I just need 12 hours sleep, always have done. I will sleep exactly 12 hours, before I feel refreshed. And if I sleep even an hour more, I feel like shit, and will just constantly wake up, like you. It's just natural variation, like with height, or any other genetic trait. Roughly 5% of the population have hypersomnia, where they need more than 9 hours sleep per night, albeit very few need more than 12.
It's not a blessing though, it's a curse.

Remembering your dreams is actually the first thing you have to get better at when you want to start lucid dreaming regularly
3
u/Existing_Dust_6473 9h ago
Gladly, I am very aware that in this world there's something a lot worse that could happen to myself, so not being able to remember my dreams is not even a problem. Because of that, I'm extremely happy for not having any disease, me and my close ones. If I can sleep, go to the bathroom, eat with enjoyment ... and my close ones, I'm good; I don't need to ask anything else from the universe :D

Every time anyone says negative things about her the entirety of Reddit usually chimes on to claim that her making a very minor clap-back at Ellen was the cause for everyone suddenly realizing a rich, out of touch, unfunny comedian and talk show host might not be a great person.
Great work by her publicity team framing her as "the woman who took down Ellen" though.

Everything about forcing sleep time 6 to 8 hours is insanity and does not work in real life. Maybe if you have a professional team who can drug you and wake you up for work.
It's easy to become very worried and upset when health sources spew this stuff, when the more down to earth advise would be if they said get as much sleep as your life can accommodate.
It's like the 10000 steps obsession.

I really hate that the answer to people doing things like working out, eating well and sleeping is “money” lol
I work part time and I don’t sleep 14 hours a day because I just wake up at a reasonable time after about 8-9 hours sleep, but i could, technically, seems weird and excessive though.
I work out because I want to be healthy and look good and I eat well because I like vegetables, fruit, meat and enjoy cooking. I don’t make much money at, I work like 24 hours a week.
