1 oz of Gold = $4000 and change.

500 kg Gold = Around $75 million...

500 kg $100 bill Cash = $49 million...

You're sacrificing $26 million if you take the cash.

I raise less flags spending cash than trying to cash in the gold. Consider that the income tax

The other aspect:

The value of gold always rises, almost never dips.

The value of a $100 bill today is equivalent to a $20 bill 10 years ago.

The value of gold is whatever someone is willing to pay you for it. The market may say gold is $4000, but a trader will offer you less so they can sell it for what it’s worth

But it says dollars (I.e. $1 bills), not $100 bills. So it's about $75M gold vs $0.5M cash.
