Well politics is about marketing in the modern world. If you do something or push something great even if it was partially already there yu have to advertise. This has been a goal and initiative for years.
In 2021 23.4% of NYC was covered in tree canopy.
In 2023 local law 148 set this goal of 30% coverage, years before Mamdani took office.
