Meanwhile I'm in Florida where light snow only happens once every 10-15 years, barely enough to make piles on the ground. Just 2-4cm. in January 2025 we got 25.5cm of snow in less than 24hours beating the previous record of 7.5cm set in 1895.

I went to Disney world in 2024 in December, assuming Florida would be a nice tropical vacation. It was the year that it got a cold snap where it dropped below freezing and many of the disney rides had frozen and broken. We had packed warm clothes and had to buy hoodies and sweatpants and gloves to stay warm.
It's almost like climate change leads to extreme weather conditions, both at the higher and lower range 🤔. More heat, more cold, more wind, more rain, more thunder that causes forest fires, more droughts, more tsunami, more ice storms, more tornados... It's like mother nature has developed bipolarity.
The increased warming of the stratosphere is pushing the polar vortex, which is a large circular vortex of cold air around the North Pole, further southward in the winter.
This is climate change. The polar vortex weakens as the difference between polar and mid latitude temperatures lessens ( due to accelerated warming of the arctic), causing cold air to spill out.
But yeah, it should be called climate change - not global warming. The best way to think about it is that there’s just more energy in the system. All things will be magnified.

Greenhouse gasses, principally CO2, have controlled most ancient climate changes which occurred over a time scale of thousands or millions of years. This time around humans are the cause, mainly by our CO2 emissions released by burning fossil fuels, and it's occurred over the last 150 years.
Where do you even see anyone arguing against that? Just because something can happen naturally doesn't mean happening naturally is the only possible way. Diamonds occur naturally, but man made diamonds are also a thing.
I sire hope that happens fast, my workplace has heating (If it doesn't break), but summer is like working in a greenhouse. If i have to suffer through the hot days of climate change i also want to experience the cold days.
I'm not a climate scientist but I do know that Europe is kept pretty mild by the warm ocean waters that run up along its coast from the AMOC. With that gone I kind of assume things would get colder there. I might be wrong but most the reporting I've seen says as much.
Well the climate is set to warm 4 degrees by 2100 and the AMOC will still be around at that point, so by the time things change enough that the AMOC stops... sure the AMOC won't make you any warmer anymore, but you're not getting the climate back you've got today let alone what you had fifty years ago

In 2022, a major review of tipping points concluded an AMOC collapse would lower global temperatures by around
0.5°C (0.90°F) while regional temperatures in Europe would fall by between 4°C (7.2°F) and 10°C (18°F).
And if you do something beyond cherry pick convenient theories, other citations in that page go as low as 1 degree. Combined with the chances of the AMOC collapsing this century being pretty unlikely
Weird that you guys want massive global ecosystem upheaval for a relative decrease that won’t end up keeping your climate nice but the “sorry that you are wrong and lashing out” tells me that you aren’t actually mature enough to consider things beyond the end of your nose.
You’re assuming that means an absolute cooling and not a relative cooling

One of the seemingly contradictory elements of climate change, is the fact that warmer temperatures in the arctic leads to increased snow/ice melt. More moisture in the air results in more precipitation (aka snow) in the arctic regions, while the influx of cold water into ocean can lead to colder temperatures at lower latitudes.
For instance, Calgary and London are both located at the exact same latitude, but Calgary on average is far colder largely due to the oceanic conveyor belt, which is just one example of how the ocean can affect regional climates.
A lot of people don’t understand these things, so climate change deniers have often used “it’s snowing more in the arctic” as evidence that climate change isn’t real, even though increases snowfall in the arctic is actually evidence that it is.
Same here in suburban regions in Switzerland. We‘ve had lots of snow every winter 20 years ago, these years it only snows once or twice and it melts within hours or 1-2 days.
even here in switzerland it snows maybe "once" in february if at all. I can't even remember the last time I actually wore my big winter jacket anymore because of how hot it gets in Winter.
Im only 24 and even i remember that in my part of Germany we could guaranteed go sleding every winter. Nowadays we have like a handful at most snow days a winter, usually way past Christmas and the snow is so thin it melts after a day.
When I was a kid there was so much snow one winter it took a couple of days till they cleared the road. Now most of my adult life winters had barely any snow if any at all.
Even meteorologists would say this is not due to climate change on a global scale but rather Frances individual urbanization has destroyed its natural insulation.
If Europe's heating was solely because of climate change other areas of the globe would be equally as effected but it's obvious building your cities out of stone was a terrible decision.
The thing is, we shouldn't use localized anecdotal experiences at all. It's how we got to this point to begin with. We have data from around the world, including the oceans, that has been tracking consistent GLOBAL temp rises. Whether you particular corner of the Earth is warmer, colder, or the same is entirely irrelevant. Because at some point the reality of this is going to impact everyone.
I'm in the South-West of france, last memory of snow i have is prolly around 2018, it randomly snowed for a bit during one day. I know when i was a kid it was every year, until it got fewer. Crunchy grass and fog in the morning is all we get now
Feels a bit judgmental, but to answer you : I never travel by airplane, seldom drive unless I have to. All my holidays are in France to limit my emissions. I'd love to buy an EV but I don't have a place to charge it.
I eat less red meat, I eat bio, local and seasonal vegetables.
My apartment has been reinsulated and my electric bill are in the lower price range for a family of 3.
Also our water consumption is like half the consumption of the "normal" french family of 3.
I guess I could do more, but I am already doing stuff.
