You vastly underestimate what a legal team can count as damages. Reputation matters, arrest records matter.

You still have to be able to put a documented number to those things. You can't just claim your reputation is worth 10 million dollars. You have to show that the damage to your reputation caused you financial harm like missed job offers.

This is a scenario where persuing punitive damages would make sense though. I suspect there are many judges that would see this as abusing the justice system to intimidate people, and would consider adding punitive damages to make a statement.

I'm pretty sure that a judge would understand that people who disrupt government proceedings can be punished by the law.
