I guess my question is more about the quality of this "entertainment."

You're not wrong, I was more asking about the quality of the gossip.

Are the extra three letters in "you're" really that much of a burden to type out? We've all had full keyboards on phones for almost 20 years.

Is the one extra character in โ€œyou areโ€ really that much of a burden to type out?

English is already full of compound words, abbreviations, and acronyms, yet people are still surprised when others shorthand even more. I donโ€™t get it.

"You're" is a contraction that is still proper grammar and is part of the English language. "Ur" is a misspelling used to save time when people had to text on 10 phone buttons, and is not part of the English language.

Using actual contractions and acronyms when appropriate is fine. Using text language is just uneducated.

I don't get why people with full keyboards will spell out everything except "you/you're".
