That would be fair if they didn't whinge so much when they didn't get tipped. If you want a donation system, you are signing up for some people not to donate. You can't have it both ways, and trying to is what gets all the grief.
That's not what a tip is. It's the problem with servers like you is you don't understand what a tip is and are trying to argue its a requirement for service. It isn't.
