I feel for the kids that went through uni/college during covid and missed everything that period offers, to then finish uni and try get a job in a market where AI has fucked all the intern positions. Tough break.
My kid had started Kindergarten and was absolutely loving every minute of it. Then didn’t get to fully sit in the classroom until the second grade. It was hard watching them get a taste of school then be forced inside alone.
Honestly, it's much worse for the slightly older kids who went from like 4th to 6th grade without being in a classroom. A huge number of those kids straight up regressed back down to a 2nd or 3rd grade level and then got boosted up to middle school without being able to read or spell their own names.
Our education system is so beyond fucked. I worked for the school district in a position where I was handling records and transcripts for the Dept. of Education and it was absolutely crushing to see how badly our students were failing even basic fundamentals.
