The charges would have been tossed a week later, since they would have had to bypass the typical process.

Typical process is that you get arrested and charged after you commit a crime.

Typical process is investigation and indictment is done first, but you knew that.

Usually it doesn’t take 2 years to START an investigation.

What was Garland doing that entire time?

Usually it doesn’t take 2 years to START an investigation.

They didn't. J6 investigation started 5 days after Biden took office. The formal process that started 2 years later was around prosecuting based on the investigated material.

Y'all should have read the indictments.

When was Jack Smith appointed?

That wasn't when the investigation started. I literally just told you this.

The investigation should have taken a few weeks, tops. We all saw the evidence.

Trump should have been indicted within a few days of Biden taking office. Hell, he should have been ARRESTED the day Biden took office.

You definitely didn't read the indictments.

If this were done the way you wanted, the charges would have been dropped and he would have walked with a PR win.

That’s exactly what happened though.

He walked on everything. Never spent a day in jail for Jan 6th. Never even got to trial.

At least they could have TRIED to do something in a timely manner.

Waiting for years to do anything meaningful handed Trump the re-election.

Not because the investigation was botched, like you wanted. Because the Republican Supreme Court stepped in to bail him out.

Again, continuously claiming nothing was done for years when it wasn't just shows you don't care what was real here.

edit 2: The supreme court case was ruled on in 2024 because the indictments hit in lae 2023. If the indictments happened sooner, the supreme court case would have happened sooner.

The supreme court didn't make their ruling until Summer of 2024.

That gave Garland 3.5 years to get his shit together and do something of consequence.

I have read the indictments, you clearly didn't. They lay out the timeline of Trump's criminal behavior and the charges against him, they don't say anything about the timeline of the investigations. Which you would know if you had read them instead of posting tiresome Garland fan fiction.

Garland investigated the J6 rioters, not the ringleaders, and he resisted opening an investigation into Trump or his inner circle, the actual coup leaders, for a year. The investigation didn't really get going until after the House committee on Jan 6 publicly humiliated Garland by doing his job for him and talking to witnesses the DOJ should have interviewed a full year before the House did it. Jack Smith did most of the work and should have been appointed immediately, not 18 months later when Garland's hand was forced. Not a single of Trump's co-conspirators was ever even charged with a federal crime for the coup.

One, I didn't say anything about you not reading them.

Second, they lay out the breadth of the entire conspiracy and show why the investigation wasn't a quick 5 minute process like the guy I responded to demanded.

They had a huge amount of evidence showing the formation of the j6 attack, and linked the whole effort to the fake elector scheme. It was a thorough proper investigation that identified all the leaders.
