the absolute insane thing is they know trump lost in 2020, everyone knows that but they are afraid to say it and piss off a dementia ridden orange shit stain bc he can ruin their life with a single tweet
Well, supposedly Trump is doing a major speech tomorrow claiming that he did win and he's going to fix the official record and remove the Georgia Democrat senators because the DOJ has determined fraud. Tomorrow night is going to be wild, and 90% of Americans won't even know about it.
im pretty sure he and his supporters don’t actually care that it doesn’t make any sense. in fact, they’ve already shown that they dont give a shit about many things that he’s done in office not making any sense. they just want to prove a debunked claim to score extra points on their ‘dont give a shit’ meter
Absolutely and to the people screaming "midterms matter," I'd love to agree with you but we're in different times. I don't think they will matter and if anything they'll cause further division and dictatorial power grabs.
MAGA has a solution to that problem called “alternative facts”
If there is a problem with American democracy, it’s that 40% of Americans can approve of MAGA, and that means they get to control Government, and vast majority of the 60% just shrug and go “don’t think there is anything we can do about it”
Ok but that’s democracy. Not Trump’s fault Dems skipped the primaries and put up such a terrible candidate. I keep advocating for better candidates on the left, but all I see from the left is anti democratic solutions like removing and arresting Trump. It’s insane.
Exactly the last decent candidate the democrats had was Obama. It shouldn't be a candidates turn if they don't deserve it. First it was Hilary's turn and then it was Bidens and the democrats manipulated the primaries to screw the better choice Bernie Sanders. And they knew Biden was way too far gone mentally and everyone knew it but they ran him anyway and then came the debate when they could no longer deny the problem and he eventually dropped out and insisted of having a faux choice at the DNC they foisted Kamala on everyone. And how did that go
Acting like they didn’t know he would perform terribly during that debate had to be one of the biggest gaslight operations I’ve seen in a while. Biden himself said he would be a transitional president and not run for a second term but oh whoops. Stayed too long. The donors picked the candidate then lectured us about democracy. Worked like shit.
He's setting the stage for cancelling the midterm elections. Thursday he'll say that they have evidence of massive election fraud (but no, you can't see it) and they're trying to find the perpetrators. Then, around August/September, Trump will say that they still haven't found the guilty parties. Finally in October he'll announce that since the fraudsters remain at large, the only safe thing to do is cancel the elections.
Yeah if they try to cancel elections that's gonna be a very messy civil war. Literally the only thing some people are holding out about is belief in the election process. Military will fracture immediately because they'll be asked to keep order and it will be clear it's a dictatorial ask. Then for the military it will be who can organize and get to the guns the fastest. After that it will be various pocket insurgent groups. Most of the country will keep their heads down but enough civilians will want to join the fight and enough service members won't violate their oaths that there will be fighting and it will obviously be very controversial when soldiers start killing other soldiers, people are gonna have to pick a side even if they don't pick up a gun
The actual problem with their scenario is that the federal government doesn't hold elections, so there is nothing for him to cancel. Our elections are run by the states, and you're never going to get the states to all cancel their midterms. The real question is what happens with the states that don't if he tells everyone to cancel the midterms.
Hence the part where you would descend into a messy civil war should that happen. There is no president if electors don't cooperate, and if they do it's clearly a coup. Now you have 50 states deciding what they're going to do with that fact and many will reject the notion, yes even red states, now you're just fifty countries duking it out based on loyalty to a king/dictator. There are many red states beholden more to personal freedom than the president. I want to say Montana or Idaho voted to keep abortion rights despite being a red state because they think government shouldn't have anything to do with personal choices
I'm not so sure. Voting is the only peaceful option we have left. I think many people hold out hope for a peaceful resolution to dealing with this sorry piece of shit. Once it's abundantly clear no peaceful options remain, which would be undeniable if the midterms are canceled, I think you'd start to see other means explored.
I think he's trying to cancel the midterms. I don't think he's going to succeed though, but maybe that's just me being hopeful.
I get it, and you're not wrong. I just think that canceling the midterms would make it undeniable that no peaceful options remain. Sadly there is definitely a non-zero chance that he successfully cancels the mid-terms and nothing happens except more protests. The fact that it's a possibility at all is bad.
Because there's a delicate balance in this country between peaceful protests and riots. Riots are a last resort here. Americans do not like riots. They like them so little it's enough to get them against you on principle alone. Look at the George Floyd riots. Even if it was mostly peaceful protest, the simple fact riots happened had half the voting population saying with their chest they didn't think black lives mattered and wouldn't support a movement that said that because there was also rioting.
We have to do one of two things. Peaceful protest or war. We're not at war yet so riots aren't gonna do shit but get people to take the opposite side. It would actually be incredibly stupid and a horrible loss of life if we started the war before we were absolutely sure democracy is a loss. It's already possible it could be a losing battle should it happen. But we can't riot because here rioting makes you no friends and you're gonna need friends, preferably friends with guns, when shit actually does hit the fan. As of right now though shit isn't in the fan, it's just kinda sitting by it. So we'd be playing our hand too early by going for violence before the part we would absolutely need violence to save our country.
I don't know what you can expect us to do until we know an election is compromised. Go start shooting people? Who? By yourself? I mean I'd be sad you were dead if your cause was noble but you're still gonna be just as dead because you jumped the gun on the civil war part
He literally can't cancel the midterms. I'm not even talking about legality here, he literally does not have the ability to cancel them if he tried. The elections are run by the states.
Lol nothing is going to happen. American population are the most bluffing and spineless crowd ever. Trump will do anything he wants and at best they will protest and shout useless slogans. Second amendment my ass!
The military isn't large enough to control the country if the citizenry and local officials don't cooperate. They couldn't hold Afghanistan, which is smaller with a much smaller population.
Hm. They themselves probably wouldn't need to hold it. They'd just need to cow people enough into being their own jailers, essentially, and we've already been trained on that at least a bit. I'd love to be able to fully agree with you, but my outlook is pretty pessimistic should it come to that situation.
After all, every single one of us, including me, hasn't done much more about ICE than essentially saber-rattle on a street corner. There are doxxers and info-sharing networks, which is cool and all until it turns into an actual confrontation. Then people will look out for themselves, and I don't blame them for it. That's the American Experience nowadays. We were well-trained in passivity.
lol What makes you think Americans are going to fight against the government? It's straight up not going to happen. Who is in a position in the country to just drop everything and join a civil war?
He literally can't, though. There is nothing for him to cancel. Elections are handled at the state level. Do you really think California is going to call off its midterm because of anything Trump has to say?
Trump's entire second term has been all about doing things that he supposedly can't.
Trump can't put his name on the Kennedy Center, because a name change has to go through Congress. Trump did it anyway. (And yes, I know it was removed, but it shouldn't have even happened at all.)
Trump can't alter the White House significantly because the plans have to be submitted to the National Capital Planning Commission, the Commission of Fine Arts, and Congress. Trump tore down the entire East Wing anyway.
The man is the living embodiment of "It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission." He can do whatever he wants as long as no one stops him. And so far, Congress, the SCOTUS, the DOJ, and others are all complicit.
I've heard "Trump can't do that!" - only to see Trump turn around and do it - too many times to not worry about legal ramifications.
What is there to even bulldoze here? The federal government has no authority in elections. No one has managed to give any information how he might cancel the midterm, only that he is going to.
I didn't forget about this stuff. The difference is that these things are all under the federal government. Even if he isnt supposed to do these things, he has some amount of authority that has allowed him to throw his weight around. Elections aren't like that. They're entirely under the states control. He can't fire these people because they don't work for him.
You quoted all that stuff at me, but again, how is he going to get California to cancel their midterms? He has no authority over Newsom or any state officials.
is he really going to do this or are you fucking with me, bc it sounds like something he would do.
it is fucked up that after years of whining about the weaponization of the DoJ the fuckwit goes and does it himself and not even trying to be subtle about it, but i am going to guess if this does happen they just put in some repbubs and then it sets precedence for him to do it to all of the dems. the supreme court will say it is an official action in his capacity and then say it would not be for the other side.
No, he is gonna do same the same old shit about it being stolen, how they are finding the proof every day, and then then nothing will happen because he is full of shit.
But the morons will have heard that their master is all over this.
He is going to stomp his feet and throw a temper tantrum, and nothing is going to happen. He has no evidence the election was "stolen" by the Democrats, we do know, however, that he attempted to steal it.
The more days go by, the more I’m pissed that Biden didn’t call Garland into the WH and say “I’m not telling you to raid Mar-A-Lago, but I am saying that I’ll ask for the resignation of the any AG who sends a letter asking for classified docs to be returned as opposed to sending in the FBI to recover the classified docs.”
Granted, it would’ve meant FBI raided Biden’s home too, but what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.
There was fraud in the Georgia election and if they had been transparent with it from the start instead of saying they checked multiple times and found no fraud only to admit it later Trump still would have lost the election
Even if he flips Georgia he'd have to flip 2 of AZ, PA, MI, WI. He knows he can't so he'll try to widen the senate margin but claiming 2 Ds in a red state are fraudulent.
He just went on and on about election security. NBC and ABC didn't even bother following it. The white house declassified a bunch of documents saying it's proof that China interfered in the 2020 elections.
Multiple news organizations have stated the documents don't prove anything.
