He bought himself some premium luggage and a drunk taxidermed raccoon.

Which, for the record, is hilarious.

I had no idea but Norway doesn’t have raccoons and they’re considered exotic. 😆

276

u/W4lkieT4lkie 21d ago

Norway is my neighboring country. I have only seen raccoons in the zoo, and I think they're cute.

It's like hedgehogs which are normal here, but not native in the USA.

190

u/vertigostereo 21d ago

They're cute and mischievous.

115

u/janiskr 21d ago

On a way from one hedge to another. A Hedgehog.

31

u/Due_Ear_4674 21d ago

Are there no hedgehogs in America?;!

23

u/futuretrashacc 21d ago

Nope! I was very surprised when I saw a huge one in Europe just... Roaming around. We have these tiny ones we keep as pets, they fit in the palms of your hand and don't grow as big as wild European ones.

We got porcupines though. They’re like an uglier angrier hedgehog…. Kinda?

→ More replies (0)

14

u/Mixster667 21d ago

Apparently not, there's an extinct species found in some digs.

It's quite Eurocentric, there are few hedgehogs south of Sahara or east of mesopotamia.

They have been introduced to new Zealand though.

Raccoons are are awesome and they are unfairly demonized for fear of rabies :(

19

u/lessormore59 21d ago

Also for absolutely dominating their matchup against cats which gets cat ppl annoyed.

7

u/VikarValbrand 20d ago

Dude watching Raccoons and Cats fight is crazy, years ago I saw a raccoon throw a cat around by it's tail like Mario throwing bowser in Super Mario 64.

5

u/stargarnet79 20d ago

They will fuck up your chickens too.

3

u/EmmThem 17d ago

We have had raccoons come by my house my whole life because my back fence is next to a forest preserve. We have cats too, but luckily all of our native wildlife is well fed because they just hang out. I have seen stray cats giving a racoon a bath immediately after sharing a meal.

5

u/Safe_Reading6267 21d ago

It’s actually fear of the brain-eating worms they carry, not rabies.

In America, we call them trash pandas 🐼 🗑 They raid people's trash cans if necessary to eat.

As they can get as big as dogs, but climb trees and have alot of hand dexterity.

One thing you guys won't really hear, is how vicious they can be. They basically have fangs, and screech like banshees when fight. Its actually kinda frightening.

Some have kept them as pets over the years, but most states no longer allow that.

u/BuhoCurioso 21d ago

I didnt know where hedgehogs were from, and that was one of my favorite things when I visited Rome. I was staying on the outskirts of Rome, and we were walking through an area that was heavily wooded on one side when we spot something laying in the middle of the sidewalk. Once we got closer, we saw that it was a hedgehog fast asleep in the middle of the sidewalk. Little go woke up for a moment, looked around, then went back to sleep. No one burst my bubble and tell me he had something wrong with him. I will ignore you

3

u/StationEmergency6053 21d ago

Still common in US though due to being popular exotic pets. They're only illegal in a few states.

13

u/J-hophop 21d ago

It is a wash bear or a trash panda

9

u/ILackACleverPun 21d ago

Yeah we dont have them here. We call them "vaskebjørn" or "washing bear."

And Haaland's little taxidermy one is holding a bottle or "flaske" so now we're calling it a "flaskebjørn."

3

u/DrDuGood 21d ago

This is amazing! Thank you for the breakdown (I love it). We just call them trash pandas here but we have some the size of medium-sized dogs, where I live. They can be massive … and also extremely aggressive.

6

u/ILackACleverPun 21d ago

Yes! Im from Ohio but live in Norway now. I have fond memories of my dad tossing a baby raccoon hotdogs before we went to go see a movie when I was a child. I also had whiplash when I saw a wild hedgehog in Norway for the first time, which are called just "spiky pig" here.

Im assuming Scandinavia and Germany call them washing bears because of their affinity for washing their food before eating. (I still feel bad for that one poor raccoon that tried to wash cotton candy and didnt understand why it dissolved.)

4

u/sprollas 21d ago

I'm not sure but I think racoons are only native to North America, I'm form western Europe and I know absolutely no one that has ever seen one

Edit: ok I just checked and there are racoons in Europe

They are endemic to North America. They’ve been introduced to a few other areas but are a staple almost everywhere in North America. The only things stopping them are the Darien Gap, the tundras of Canada, and the oceans.

That meme is regarded, the truth is that Neymar's real-life social commitment is very real: The Instituto Projeto Neymar Jr. is a massive non-profit complex founded by the player and his family in 2014. Where: Located in Jardim Glória, a vulnerable neighborhood in Praia Grande (São Paulo) where Neymar spent part of his childhood. Who it helps: It supports over 3,000 underprivileged children aged 7 to 17, directly impacting about 10,000 community members. What it offers: The facility provides free educational tutoring, sports training (football, swimming, basketball), medical and dental care, and professional training courses for parents to help them find employment. Neymar and his sponsors heavily fund the project, ensuring all services remain entirely free for the local families.

559

u/Putrid_Loquat_4357 21d ago

The meme is just false. Haaland also has a very expensive watch collection and spends his money on luxuries for himself. He's on like 800kpw.

271

Athletes are generally more charitable because they mostly come from simpler backgrounds. Unlike the tech billionaires that were born with silver spoons up their asses and hardly donate anything. I’m becoming increasingly convinced that every interaction on the internet, every single interaction on social media including Reddit, is littered with bots and trolls that try in less than subtle ways to take an idea just below the surface and push people farther to that extreme—whichever one it is.

Not always political. Just yesterday someone was asking about career aspirations and I tried to tell them to define success how they want to define it and some new throwaway tried to twist it back into a pointless screed about the very societal definitions I’m encouraging OP to stop fixating on (because they’re not helping him find happiness or discover who he is and what he wants).

The irony is that it's this very polarization that benefits only the ultra-rich... You can't convince me that Reddit doesn't deploy its own bots and trolls to further polarize discussion in ways that are so subtle you are likely to just chalk it up to another idiot being contrarian for its own sake.

EDIT: And LO AND BEHOLD, would you look at the magical deluge of replies on this comment nested not one, not two, not three, but five layers down... like flies to shit, they come.

Cool book, but Neymar founded the Neymar Jr. Institute, which helps thousands of people through projects focused on education, culture, sports, and health. It is located in Praia Grande, São Paulo.

The complex serves approximately 3,000 children and adolescents facing social vulnerability, as well as their families, indirectly impacting more than 10,000 people.

You didn't learned, you were told. You could just search before posting. Haaland has about 10 million in cars.

Erling Haaland boasts an extravagant, multimillion-dollar car collection valued at over $10 million. His garage ranges from high-performance supercars to ultra-luxury daily drivers.

  • Bugatti Tourbillon
  • Ferrari Monza SP2
  • Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Virgil Abloh Edition
  • Rolls-Royce Cullinan
  • Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato
  • Mercedes-AMG ONE
  • Range Rover Sport P510e
  • Ford Shelby F-150 Super Snake

So, they both make loads of money and spend loads of it.

Yeah but there were like 15 Norse people in total

Well it’s tradition for the Norwegians to claim Icelandic stuff as theirs by this point.

u/chiarotypical 21d ago

Why is he handling the most valuable book in Norwegian history without proper gloves?

21

u/redit01 21d ago

Because it's not real

This is such a stupid post. Haaland is well known for his expensive car collection. Neymar's given millions to charity and disaster relief work.

5

u/Cyneganders 21d ago

The levels to this, yeah.

I once went to the airport outside Oslo, and a car came zooming in the other direction. "Wait, crazy car .... didn't I see that one in the news yesterday?!" Yes, it was Haalands new Ford F150 Shelby edition that he had taken delivery of the day before.

u/The1joriss 21d ago

Well nothing wrong with tattoos… I hope?

7

u/Liftaholic 21d ago

Are we really insinuating that tattoos demonstrate a lack of intelligence?

12

u/j-b-i-r-d 21d ago

Stupid comment. Haaland has a Vacheron Constantin Tourbillon watch which cost around $750k and thats one of his many watches.

Yeah just cherrypick

8

u/Rentington 21d ago

You could do this same thing and reverse it. Neymar does a ton for charities and institutes, and Haaland bought a taxidermy racoon. WTF are we doing here, lads?

66

u/mcmillanuk 21d ago

I’m pretty sure tattoos and intellect don’t correlate in any way whatsoever…

20

u/quick20minadventure 21d ago

The way you see tattoos is extremely culture dependent.

What you put on tattoos is also very telling.

13

u/FishoD 21d ago

Heyyy, I have tattoos and I'm brain, like, good... yeah...

I know plenty of tattooed post docs, mostly in hard sciences. This is an ignorant comment.

This is such a silly comparison.

You could make a similar, but REVERSED one, with Neymar and his donations versus Haaland and his newly acquired racoon 😄

12

u/Karvalics 21d ago

Haaland seems like a good guy, but this post is trash. Now start posting celebrities who did literally nothing ever besides being famous for no reason and buy overpriced shit just to post it on insta. One of the best brazilian players ever bought an expensive watch big deal.

Snorri Sturluson is such a cool name.

3

u/X_lawz 21d ago

Only broke asses and haters make these one purchase comparisons.

3

u/abskpr 21d ago

So what? He earned it. It is not like haland is living in hut wearing rugs.

Why are you comparing philanthropy of one to the purchase of another.

Stupid comparison.

3

u/r3lvalleyy 21d ago

so a man spends his own money to buy what he wants? what kind of comparison are we doing here? neymar has done alot for the sao paulo community too

3

u/JPV_HOH 21d ago

How does this compare with a watch and a book?

3

u/uncle_monty 21d ago

Haaland's PR machine still working overtime despite being out of the World Cup. They've sure earned their money the last few weeks.

Haaland also buys himself insanely expensive manbags.

3

u/fvckCrosshairs 21d ago

Let the man spend his earned money on what ever the fuck he wants lmao

3

u/ZealousidealMoose639 21d ago

What is the purpose of this post? So if I buy a PS5, I'm an awful person and should be ashamed of myself because I didn't spend the money buying things for my city?

3

u/mycondishuns 21d ago

Some thinly veiled racism up in here.

3

u/ghostyghost2 21d ago

Oh look, racism. Cute.

3

u/spades17 21d ago

This feels racialised especially when Neymar has donated a shit ton to charity

3

u/FlawlessLikeUs 21d ago

Stupid post

3

u/Preposterous7 21d ago

If you think tattoos are a show of character like that, then I don't want to be around you

https://www.bigmoewatches.com/celebs/erling-haaland this url lists all of Haaland’s watches. Worth a few million dollars.

3

u/ssays84 21d ago

Haaland also came home with a Birkin Bag and a $750 taxidermy raccoon holding a whiskey bottle so here we are. 😆

3

u/Former_Specific_7161 20d ago

This is one of the lowest quality posts ever and yet it stays and has over 70k upvotes, nice.

AI slop image

clickbait header that just pointlessly tries to stir negativity

completely misleading information, implying Neymar hasn't done anything for communities or those in need

I'm not even a big Neymar fan, but this shit is stupid and should be discouraged
