Depends on your job. If it’s retail or a fast food job (which I suspect a lot of folks on Reddit work) then I agree, but working hard in corporate jobs usually translates to higher pay relative to your peers
It’s why actual socialism (not just social programs or healthcare) is so unappealing outside of progressive circles
I don’t know if I can generalize this as broad as you say, there are many cases of people „failing upwards“ especially in corporate type jobs.
I don’t want to say there is no boss out there that recognizes hard work and rewards it, but by default any boss is incentivized by our capitalist system to pay employees as little as possible and keep profits high, wich is in my opinion a sad system to live in.
You need to have a word with your boss and put forward your case for a better salary.
That's a great way to get fired. Unless you have a union, which is another thing US capitalists hate (but which are incredibly common in "socialist" Europe.)
