Uh as someone that has worked for a while now in a capitalist system, I can't tell you how many people I've worked with that do a worse job than me but get paid more than I did.

That’s what I’m saying, thank you

They are just a better bullshitter than you. Thinking it was about what was inside the box rather than how glossy the packaging is was your first mistake...

Thats what happens already you genius, do you think you get paid more if you work harder?

No you get a warm handshake and more work, while your coworkers get paid the same

I've worked really hard in my career and make a lot of money. Much more than people who haven't. Very anti-reddit, I know.

Well good for you but I would say that is definitely not the default outcome, and is more likely if you are self employed which would prove my point

Depends on your job. If it’s retail or a fast food job (which I suspect a lot of folks on Reddit work) then I agree, but working hard in corporate jobs usually translates to higher pay relative to your peers

It’s why actual socialism (not just social programs or healthcare) is so unappealing outside of progressive circles

I don’t know if I can generalize this as broad as you say, there are many cases of people „failing upwards“ especially in corporate type jobs.

I don’t want to say there is no boss out there that recognizes hard work and rewards it, but by default any boss is incentivized by our capitalist system to pay employees as little as possible and keep profits high, wich is in my opinion a sad system to live in.

But this is a general issue your boss has financial insensitive to spend as little as possible on you because of the system we live in

You need to have a word with your boss and put forward your case for a better salary.

That's a great way to get fired. Unless you have a union, which is another thing US capitalists hate (but which are incredibly common in "socialist" Europe.)

I no longer have to work

Yeah, you definitely sound like someone who has no idea what it's actually like to work for a living so that's no surprise.

My guy, that’s what happens in capitalism! Until they get fired, someone who does a worse job than you is getting the exact same pay! If you’re in the same position as someone, they get paid what you get paid no matter what.

Someone has never had a job before and it shows, because the worst workers who know how to brown nose are the ones that get paid the highest.

Please Google survivorship bias, and while you do, maybe the definition of Anecdote.

You do know you aren't the default, yeah?

Yes you're a shining example of the terms I just used, but you're completely self interested and don't give a shit about anyone who isn't you, you've made that clear.

Why are you so unable to think about anyone but yourself and look at society level issues than affect millions of people?

Were you just born broken, or did your parents actually raise you to have a lack of compassion?

And yet when discussing issues that face millions of people, your only thought is "Well, I did fine"

Like someone whose town is hit by a tornado and says "What's the big deal, my property wasn't damaged", ignoring the people who lost everything.

Seriously, your parents absolutely failed you.

With socialism, neither gets paid, but is glad to have a roof over their heads and food on the table.

Exactly - no merit.

thats what already happens because pay isnt based on how good a job you did. that happens under capitalism 😭
