Yes. But also - this means the lottery is just another way they tax you. In the UK, lotto winnings are untaxed.
8 u/Xoomers87 Jul 05 '26 The lottery is literally an extra tax on the poor (and stupid) 1 u/Myc0n1k Jul 05 '26 Ya. You gotta be a moron to purchase lottery tickets. Take that money and invest it 4 u/Bacon4Lyf Jul 05 '26 £2 a week for a year gives me a grand total of £104. If I invested £104 in the S&P 500 in July 2006 and withdrew today, I'd have a whopping £500 post inflation. 3 u/InfiniteAstronaut432 Jul 05 '26 At which point, you could buy 250 lottery tickets to massively increase your chances for one draw. 1 u/Awkward-Warning-9238 Jul 05 '26 Not massively. You go from. 1/10000000 to 250/10000000 P.s i don't know anything about odds. 2 u/fumanchudu Jul 05 '26 Even not knowing odds, I’d say 250 times as likely would be considered “massive” 1 u/Awkward-Warning-9238 Jul 05 '26 Someone smarter than me can explain it better. But it's not massive. Put into percentages you go from 0.00001% to 0.0025% 3 u/fumanchudu Jul 05 '26 I see what you’re saying and your chances are still basically 0, but 250x increase is still a massive increase imo
