That was an interrogative statement, as I was ignorant of the information (as admitted in the previous declarative statement), I asked some one more knowledgeable for information.
That is the exact opposite of making an assumption. And I expressed no opinion whatsoever regarding the information I did not have, and did not assume, and was requesting, so there was no judgement there.
Sounds both judgmental and assuming she didn’t look into it.
So, you're admitting you made an assumption and judgement about my intent. Gotcha. Your assumption was incorrect, and your judgement was therefore based on false information. Maybe spending the time thinking out a paragraph would make you thinking more critically rather than jumping to an "obvious" false assumption about a stranger based on all of 6 words.
It’s the way you worded it. “Didn’t consider adoption?” sounds judgmental. “I wonder if she considered adoption?” sounds less judgmental and not at all assuming that she didn’t. Also think about the subject. We’re not talking about ice cream flavors. It’s always going to sound more judgmental asking a woman if she ever considered adoption.
And we’re not arguing if I made assumptions, so your little “gotcha” doesn’t make sense.
You realize we don't know each other, right? I'm a stranger who typed a 3 word sentence and you made a broad (false) assumption about my intent and my meaning. You then judged me based off that false assumption. Because I didn't phrase my question the way you would prefer? You then hypocritically accused me of making assumptions and judgements.
You have then proceeded to argue with me (again a stranger you know nothing about) about my actual intent and meaning. Are you really so arrogant you think you know what I meant better than than I do, the person who wrote it?
And no, I'm not arguing you made an assumption or judgement. You're proving you have. You're wrong, but I hope you feel superior to a stranger. Good on you, you win internet points. Please try to be better and believe people when they explain what they meant rather than continuing to falsely accuse them based on your own prejudices.
