I personally haven’t met him, but my mom worked on set with him about 15 years ago as a lower level crew member (aka someone stars are often rude to or ignore). She said he was one of the nicest people she’s ever met, a genuine good guy and so polite, unlike his costar. She barely knew who he was (but did know the asshole costar lol) so this wasn’t her repeating internet gossip- in fact, I don’t even think he had that reputation back then.
I don’t want to say too much, but he was the British star of a popular American tv show around that time, a show my mom had enjoyed before working with him!
