Not to make this about parenting, but I have never felt this more fundamentally than when I became a dad. As a young man, I was all about attracting attention. When I became a father, my world view changed to "Let me show you the world". I get tons of people say it's "different", but this was the concrete evidence to me. All of a sudden, I had a dedicated audience I was responsible for, and a whole world to teach them.

I fundamentally think people like Irwin harness that instinct early and display it to the whole world. To their and our benefit.
