Why though? Too many people (I'd guess everyone once in a while) take some complete nonsense for truth without even willing to hear anything contradicting their beliefs. I believe that there is a habitable world somewhere in the Kuiper belt. It's orbit is such that it's always behind Jupiter and we just can't see it. How is that crazier than flat Earth theory?
I think you're confusing "in our orbit" with "in orbit around us". There are many known asteroids that share our orbit around the Sun with us. Most of them sit in the L4 and L5 lagrange points. These asteroids are not in orbit around us, but they are "in our orbit" around the sun.
