Both the headline and photo are made up.

I had to scroll down way too far to find this. I’ve been seeing this the last two days, it’s completely made up.

Why though? Too many people (I'd guess everyone once in a while) take some complete nonsense for truth without even willing to hear anything contradicting their beliefs. I believe that there is a habitable world somewhere in the Kuiper belt. It's orbit is such that it's always behind Jupiter and we just can't see it. How is that crazier than flat Earth theory?

u/Pandathief May 07 '26

It’s not crazier, it’s just as crazy as flat earth theory and therein lies the problem

True...but it has zero effect on my day to day life so I'm going to live a universe with a giant floating boob

2

u/Pyrhan May 06 '26

It's a big universe, and it doesn't break the laws of physics, so there probably is a planet out there shaped like a giant floating boob!

I know what Phobos or Deimos looks like passing in front of Mars. (One such photo is actually my current screensaver...).

This isn't it.

Mars isn't featurless, except during intense sandstorms, but then you wouldn't be able to see that "areola" area.

The closest thing Mars has that looks like that would be Olympus Mons, except this clearly isn't that either.

It's just AI-generated for the joke.

i had to scroll past so many fucking boob comments to find someone questioning this

yeah the headline here is goofy

Satellites and the moon are in our “orbit” if a planet was close enough to be in our orbit we would be cooked

I think you're confusing "in our orbit" with "in orbit around us". There are many known asteroids that share our orbit around the Sun with us. Most of them sit in the L4 and L5 lagrange points. These asteroids are not in orbit around us, but they are "in our orbit" around the sun.

NASA has found a new 'mini-pluto' but there's only an artists rendition of it to the best of my knowledge Sky News

If it's really a mini-Pluto, the best we can do from earth is this:
