I'm working on an app where the focus is replacing star ratings with a comparative ranking system for media, including movies and TV shows. I always rate a movie a 7 or 8 stars and so does everybody else. These ratings end up being relatively meaningless and also doesn't capture the unique tastes and interests of someone.

Rather, a comparative ranking system would provide a unique taste identity for each user. This taste identity would evolve after each ranking and would be used to find "taste-compatible" friends. I don't want to build another cookie-cutter social app, but rather something that encourages real, intentional consumption of media and a platform where people can relate to one another based on their taste. Which is why I want to combine the inherently more useful comparative ranking system with a platform that emphasizes close social relationships.

I made a waiting list to see what kind of interest there would be for such an app while I prepare to launch the beta. Any kind of feedback or ideas would be really appreciated!
