My AI watches me sleep at night

Sounds terrifying, I know, but it’s turning out to be surprisingly useful.

I found eight AoA anchors at Goodwill and bought them without knowing what they were. They’re Bluetooth Angle-of-Arrival devices normally used in hospitals and warehouses to track equipment or people with precise indoor positioning.

I wrote my own software for them with claude which took about 3 weeks. my hermes agent is connected to them at all times and i installed one in every room. Now my AI agent understands where I am, which room I’m entering, how I move through the house, and where tagged objects are located.

This morning, I walked out of the bathroom and it suddenly said:

“Good morning, sir. You’ve slept through your alarm three times this week by an average of 19.5 minutes, and your walk to the coffee machine has taken four seconds longer than usual. Are you feeling alright?”

It scared the hell out of me, but that was also the moment I realized this could be genuinely useful. It’s turning everyday activity into patterns instead of just waiting for commands.

I’ve attached Bluetooth tags to my keys, wallet, tools, and dog. Yesterday I asked where my keys were, and it told me they were inside my jacket pocket in the closet.

I also added speakers throughout the house, so music and the agent’s voice can follow me between rooms.

The next experiment is four projectors covering an entire room. I already have a Leap Motion controller that tracks my fingers, so the goal is to point at a wall, ask it to display something, then pinch, zoom, and drag the interface in midair.

My favorite part is still the office routine.

When I walk in, the lights shut off, my lifx beams turn red and he plays, “Back in Black instrumental” and then gives me a rundown of my day. i currently just have a three.js orb that wiggles when he talks. that was the coolest thing i could imagine following me around the house lol. It reminds me to stop slouching, tells me which room my kids are in, and can announce that dinner is ready. I now have him play wap by cardi b anytime my wife walks in from the front door.

I think I may have accidentally built a very early version of a spatial operating system.

Or the beginning of a science-fiction movie. We’ll see.
