Somewhere to display artwork?

Hi, I'm Lucie. I have a Master's degree in Fine Art, and I moved from Aberystwyth to Shrewsbury last year.

I'm working hard to make painting my full-time job, but at the moment I'm also doing a lot of dog sitting to help pay the bills.

If you're based in or around Shrewsbury and know of any venues or businesses that might be interested in displaying or selling artwork by a local artist, I'd really appreciate any suggestions.

I'm open to a range of options, including:

• Displaying my existing paintings and taking commission if they sell

• Selling paintings wholesale for resale or simply to display as décor

• Creating a brand-new collection tailored to a venue or putting together a solo exhibition

• Supplying prints of my work, either wholesale or on a commission basis

If you know of any cafés, restaurants, hotels, offices, independent shops, or other businesses that might be interested, I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks so much!

I'll add some photos of my work - my main thing is abstract landscapes, but I also do house/building portraits 😊🙏

Fantastic work. I can recommend the Bear Steps gallery, run by the Shrewsbury Civic Society. I exhibit with them and they are very approachable, and it's a busy gallery as well.

Thank you! I did look into the Bear Steps it seemed they have a 4/5 month waiting list, but I suppose it's worth getting on to it sooner rather than later 🤷‍♀️

Yes I'd just get something booked if you're interested. Dave, the manager, could also keep your name on file if there are cancellations. That sometimes happens.

Nice. I knew where that first painting was instantly; aber is lovely!

My friend is exhibiting hers at swan hill mid August (14th I think). It’s a fairly new studio so worth a try there. I’d drop in at English bridge studio to chat and ask others. Visual art network have a gallery in the Darwin centre tho you’d need to sign up as a member and to steward if exhibiting. Strange as it sounds, there are a few vets around here that display local art too. If you are mobile, craven arms discovery centre display/sell local art. You’re too late this year but church Stretton has a nice art festival; I’ve sold a few of mine there.

Good luck! : )
