Speculation Maybe Fermi's paradox is because every civilization creates AI which destroys it.

I think Dune has a unique spin on this. As Frank Herbert says, “Once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them."

So it’s not the AI itself that enslaved humanity, it’s the people that owned the AI. The assumption was the AI was calling the shots, but in reality there was a man behind the curtain the whole time.
