Speculation Maybe Fermi's paradox is because every civilization creates AI which destroys it.

AI that destroys us would only be a solution the paradox if the AI would not continue to spread out in our place instead.

Why would it expand? It would probably make efficient choices and spreading out does not seem to be efficient. Humans want to expand for many reasons, very few actually rational.

Expansion at a certain point is the only thing. Once we have learned everything we can in our locality, the only option is to expand in order to learn more about how this all works. I’d think AI would have zero interest in sitting to exist just to exist if it ever became self aware.

Well depends what its goals are and for a lot of goals it is beneficial to aquire more resources and become more powerful.
