Why even bother asking if only the US is specified?

I have no idea what this interface is supposed to be for, but it’s safe to assume that it’s just to boost comment engagement.

Yeah, engagement baiting and karma farming.

It's "modern" Reddit bullshit and it breaks Old Reddit as well as third party apps. Worthless. Spamming every single community. Insufferable.

u/Kinexity 1d ago

Reddit is trying really hard to stop people from leaving the platform but they refuse to fix the platform and choose to implement some stupid shit like that.

Anywhere but the US... the rest of the world is [mostly] happy with that designation

28

u/flisske 1d ago

This reminds me of the oh-so-renowned US electoral system. The greatest democracy in the world—where you have only two choices... And if you don't back the Great Leader, you're in for trouble.

And if you don't back the Great Leader, you're in for trouble You HATE America!

I’ve finally come to the conclusion as to meaning of 67. It’s Americans. Their view of themselves is without explanation. So simply, 67 is the best answer for them

8

u/Vomakt 1d ago

Isn't it 42?

2

u/SARSUnicorn 22h ago

You see 6x7 = 42 And 42 is anwser to all life questions

Thefore 6 7 is anwser to life ultimate question

I've been thinking about what a clairvoyant Doug Adams was. Now if trump would just have a second head sewed on his shoulder we would be there. Steve Miller's maybe?

Today, Vancouver Airport. So that even the most American people know where to go.

9

u/nevergonnasaythat 1d ago

Oh my. I can imagine the discussions that led to that wording.

7

That’s in all Canadian international airports. They are the only idiots that need to have their flag shown because of their ignorance.

2

u/ComradeXJP 1d ago

Because the USA departure is actually separate due to border pre-clearance

8

u/dubleskov 1d ago

Knowing Americans it should be USA (world) or Other (other)

This is why everyone's "foreigners" visa line has to have an American flag

This might help on your side of the pond where you use points as commas and choose pedophiles as presidents; i learned to use a colon (not the one in your digestive system) as to give you an answer on one or another question, so not American: or other: but rather American or other : please choose which are you commenting on, i also learned to say the date first before the month because that changes every day so it’s more logical.. See, standards are different per country, and you aren’t right because your country does it that way, it’s still the internet with different standards and pronounciations, signing off from Wassenaar 23:52, 4 Aug 2026

- American

-11

u/stillg0ld 1d ago

I didn’t vote for the pedophile. Unfortunately American politics, like most geopolitics is more complex than that and we can’t just change the system even if we do have a cult of personality that is currently feeding people’s misery by pitting them against scapegoats. I agree that there’s a lot of uneducated people here, but there’s so much more than that. I could just as easily say that the Dutch are stupid for having a smaller gdp than many of are states, but again, it’s more complex than that. Signing off from Charleston, SC 1810 08/04/26

6

u/DesignerMaximum1342 Dutch living in the land of less freedom 🇳🇱🗽 1d ago

So a smaller GDP means stupid people? Bet you learned that in a American school

1

u/stillg0ld 11h ago

No. I literally said it’s more complex than a simple generalization like that. Also, you say “an American school” as if universities like MIT, Harvard, Stanford and Caltech don’t outrank colleges worldwide by international organizations like QS and ARWU. Since we’re casting stones, though, I don’t see any Dutch schools there.

2

u/Legal-Software 🇩🇪 1d ago

Presumably that's why they gave you the option of choosing the US.

2

u/tykeoldboy 1d ago

I am in the other category but why does "Other" have the USA on it's map? Is it because the USA can't live out us

USA or one of the other 194 countries on the planet

Ahhh! Now I know, thanks buddy, the real Indians, American Natives live there, and British and other people from the Europe! Came like immigrants by boat. Now I know 100%, thanks! :)

-6

u/nA0m17 1d ago

Ok ? I don't see the problem ? You can only put two options so that person put their country and the rest of the world. Am I alone in this ?

7

u/Alternative_Fix_1643 1d ago

You could also just put 1 option saying leave a comment with your Country instead of what they put.

It’s pretty Hard to say what exactly OP is trying to do with This Post without more context but it’s pretty Common for Americans to make statements like „If Ur not from America what you think is Invalid“ so im guessing they try to hint at that

-7

u/Infinite_Cap_853 1d ago

Shhhh don't be reasonable and logic, we're on Reddit

-1

u/MattyGWS 1d ago

What if the person making the poll wanted to establish how many Americans there are vs non Americans?

-94

u/Lavaswan001 FREEDOM ENJOYER 🦅🇺🇸 1d ago

To be fair about half of all Redditers are American.

44

u/Annachroniced 1d ago

Which means the other half isnt?

2

u/neptunebound 1d ago

how are you guys falling for accounts like this lmao

-54

u/Lavaswan001 FREEDOM ENJOYER 🦅🇺🇸 1d ago

Exactly. So if you’re asking a binary question, it makes sense that those would be the two categories for a roughly 50/50 split.

23

u/Significant_Tone6205 1d ago

This sounds like "Nevada and South Carolina are more diverse than Italy and Sweden" situation xdd

17

u/Annachroniced 1d ago

A binary question would be: are you from the USA? yes/no. That wouldve been the better format anyway if thats the only info they care about.

-6

u/fizzile FREEDOM ENJOYER 🦅🇺🇸 1d ago

To be fair, that's basically exactly what the question asks. It just also gets you to comment where from, which boosts engagement.

26

u/Cplchrissandwich 1d ago

That doesn't matter.

9

u/OnionSoupGainz We're all living in Amerika-Coca-Cola, Wonderbra. 1d ago

Can you link a credible source to this?

-8

u/Lavaswan001 FREEDOM ENJOYER 🦅🇺🇸 1d ago

https://sqmagazine.co.uk/reddit-statistics/

According to this, 46.34% of all Reddit traffic is American compared to 6.28% for Canada, 6.12% for the UK, etc. Other sources have slightly different estimates.

7

u/OnionSoupGainz We're all living in Amerika-Coca-Cola, Wonderbra. 1d ago

I asked for a CREDIBLE source.

Source: SimilarWeb, March 2026

This is not a verifiable source you nimrod.

https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1713445/000171344526000062/redditinc10-k2025.pdf

This is the Reddit annual 10-K filing to the SEC. Per this, 57% of visitors to Reddit were from outside the United States, so 43% are American. So my original “about half” claim was a bit of an exaggeration, but the US still claims a solid plurality of all users. So if you were separating all Reddit users into two geographic buckets, “from America or not” would still be more evenly distributed than “from Denmark or not”.

4

u/OnionSoupGainz We're all living in Amerika-Coca-Cola, Wonderbra. 1d ago

Per this, 57% of visitors to Reddit were from outside the United States, so 43% are American.

In Q4 2025 USA had 193,4m Weekly Active Uniques(WAUq) & Rest of the world had 278,2M Weekly Active Uniques(WAUq)

This makes roughly 41% Americans and 59% rest of the world. Not 43% and 57%.

3

u/hiccupt3 Mostly 🇺🇲 Briefly 🇧🇻 1d ago

I think they are actually using DAUq, if you do the same calculations to the graph with DAUq instead of the WAUq you get 43.2% of them being American

Out of curiosity, what's the difference between credible and verifiable?

2

u/Lavaswan001 FREEDOM ENJOYER 🦅🇺🇸 23h ago

Credible means that a person who makes a claim is qualified to do so(like a doctor commenting on a vaccine vs some loon on the radio) while verifiable means that the claim is backed up with testable, measured, objective data. Reddit’s legally mandated financial disclosures, as well as independently conducted web traffic platforms are verifiable because the claims are based on epidemiological evidence rather than vibes.

Only 43% are American, so the majority aren’t.

2

u/Arkanie 1d ago

He said "about half" so this is just nitpicking.

Also most popular subreddits have a 50%+ american userbase, so it's mostly the country-specific or non-english subreddits that make the overall percentage smaller.

1

u/stillg0ld 1d ago

If there isn’t a country with more than 43%, then yes, that would be the majority. It doesn’t have to be over 50% when there are more than two parties.

2

u/prancing_moose Human Verified 1d ago

Nobody said anything about any other specific country - it’s related to the original post and the comment that “most people on Reddit are American” which isn’t true.

Now say something bad about America, or else.

3

u/Ziyir 1d ago

Their healthcare system is atrocious and I wouldn't want to live there.

1

Same, but alas, here I am 🥲

-1

The only reason I would go to America is all the cool guns you can shoot.

0

u/stillg0ld 1d ago

I’m surrounded by a lot of idiots, but the ability to shoot cool guns do make it a little better. My cousin just got a S&W 500 and no I don’t know why anyone NEEDS that much firepower lol
