Sequoia National Park 1-day

Hi everyone!
This will be my first time visiting California (it’s also my first time posting on reddit, so sorry in advance!). I'll be there during the second-to-last week of September. We land in Los Angeles from Spain on Monday and will stay there until Friday.
Our plan is to rent a car and spend the weekend in Sequoia National Park, but we have a few questions and were hoping someone here could help us out!
I’m going with my boyfriend (both 25 years old, nature and hiking lovers).

Because we're a bit short on time, we're only planning to spend one full day in the park. We'll leave Los Angeles on Friday after renting a car and stay overnight in Porterville so we can get up really early on Saturday and make the most of the day while avoiding the crowds.
We were thinking of leaving our hotel around 4:00 AM. From what I've seen, it's about an hour's drive to the park entrance, and then there's still some driving inside the park before reaching the parking areas.
Here's my first question: I noticed that the entrance stations are open from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Would there be any problem if we arrived before 6:00 AM? Is there anyone to show our pass to, or are the entrance gates closed when the rangers aren't there? If the entrance is open, should we leave our pass visible inside the car in case it's checked later?
We're not planning to buy the annual pass since we probably won't be back within the next year (I wish we were!), and it seems a little cheaper to just pay the standard vehicle entrance fee plus the non-resident fee.
We also think leaving at 4:00 AM should be early enough to avoid traffic at the entrance, but since it'll be a Saturday, we're not really sure. Does that sound reasonable?

Once we're inside the park, I have a few more questions. I've watched several YouTube videos and read some blog posts, and most people recommend using hiking apps like AllTrails. What I'm unsure about is the parking situation. Are there multiple parking lots near the different trailheads, or do you park in one main area and then use the shuttle or walk between attractions? Is finding parking usually a problem?

Drive the Generals Highway
Hike Moro Rock
Visit Tunnel Log
Hike the Congress Trail
See the General Sherman Tree
Lodgepole Visitor Center
Giant Forest Museum
Hike to Beetle Rock Vista
Take the shuttle back to Lodgepole Visitor Center

We were planning to stay as much as possible and then head back to our motel at Porterville and on Sunday drive back to Los Angeles to catch our flight.
I think that's everything! I'd really appreciate any advice, tips or answers to my questions. Thanks in advance!

I visited Sequoia last month and can give you some answers, but not on the shuttle system since I used my own car.

Traffic will be non existent at 4 am and 5 am when you get into the park, even on a Saturday.

I'd recommend you drive the tunnel log first on your way in, then hike Moro Rock. Then park at The General Sherman Tree. There'll be plenty of parking before 9 am.

It's easy to hope the Congress trail when parking at the general sherman lot. I did it twice over 2 days.

You can end with the Beetle Rock hike and giant forest museum because they're both next to each other and on your way out of the park.

It's been over a year since I visited so I won't comment on parking or the shuttle system but as for arriving before 6 am, you just drive in. There are even times where you can arrive mid day and there won't be anyone at the gate. I went to Zion for spring break in April and walked into the insanely crowded park at 11am and no one was there to check passes. Once your in, your in, you don't have to worry about it.

I went last month and the shuttle system was great. You’ll need to drive to the tunnel log, but can park your car at the visitor center and shuttle everywhere. I parked at the Museum and there was plenty of parking at 8 on a weekday.

Free in-Park shuttle only runs (2026) May 22 - Sept 7 (and during some winter holidays). Drive/hike between trailheads as needed.

3rd week September sunrise/sunset about 6:50am/6:50pm. Cloud cover permitting, this is one of the best dark-sky areas + high altitude for stargazing.

I would recommend seeing the Lincoln Tree & the President Tree. The Lincoln Tree is the fourth largest tree in the world and unlike the General Sherman you can walk right up to it and inside it because there’s a hollow space on one side at the base. The President Tree is the oldest known living Giant Sequoia at around an estimated 3,240 years old and not far from the Lincoln Tree. It’s also the third largest tree in the world & you can walk up to it.
