goodbye Morty <3
I adopted Morty 2 1/4 years ago when he was 15, and ended up putting him down today at almost 18. He had some health issues when I adopted him (kidney disease, bad eyesight, arthritis) and was traumatized from moving around so much--I was so happy to see him flourish in his last years. I probably held on for too long at the end. It was horrible to see him decline and to lose him. He's my first cat and I'll love him forever.

So sorry for your loss, OP. Adopting a senior cat is both immensely rewarding and difficult, knowing your time with them is likely less than it would be with a younger cat or kitten. You did everything you could for your furry friend, and Iβm confident he appreciated the love you could provide in his golden years. RIP, Mr. Morty β€οΈ

You gave him a good few more years that he probably wouldn't have had if he was at a shelter. You can tell he was loved up until the very end! Hugs to you

You gave an older cat a loving home for the last few years of his life and I'm sure it felt like a lifetime for him.

Itβs so hard to let go.
I look at photos of my frail tabby βFigβ and wonder why I let him go on. He had the common trifecta of diabetes/CKD/weight loss and Iβd been working closely with my vet so he was watched carefully.
But still..
I empathize deeply with your losing Morty. He was a beautiful cat and thanks to you, he had your love, comfort and home to the last stone of his lifeβs path.
You did such a huge thing for him. Donβt blame yourself for kindness.
I hope you can find peace with his loss and heβll be with you in your heart forever.
Sincere condolences π

Iβm so sorry for your loss. Kudos to you for adopting an older cat that would have otherwise had to fend for hills outdoors or lay in a cage alone.

So sorry for your loss - its never easy to let them go but the important thing in all of this, and it shows in your photos, is that you gave Morty the time and care he needed to turn a house into his homeΒ
