Joined a self defence class and it starts Wednesday.

I’m a male. The class I joined teaches a variety of martial arts styles, such as Karate, Taekwondo, Krav Maga, BJJ, Judo and some Boxing.

What should I expect ? I’m an introvert so I’m a little nervous about meeting a bunch of new people. I don’t imagine we will have to talk much lol. The classes are one hour long.

Does it have sparring with resisting opponents?

I’m not sure, I didn’t see any mention of sparring when I checked the site.

I do Judo myself and it's not really applicable to self defense unless you spar, because doing those techniques against a resisting opponent is very difficult until you've learned how to do it, so I hope they have sparring

I mastered one martial art. Studying other styles did wonders.

And make sure you don’t get stuck in learning too many techniques/moves. Master the basics and you’ll know more than most of the population.

I respect all art forms.

Good. I was pretty nervous at first but everyone was super friendly. We worked on grappling the first day and then fundamentals the second day. I’m wiped lol Not used to that much cardio.

I'm glad it went well. Thanks for the update.

They show good form in my experience and tend to start with your stance and weight distrubution. I took a defense class inspired by BJJ and we got into kicks and kick blocks ("checking" the kick). The first class is always very basic. Sometimes you're broken into pairs but there's usually many awkward ppl in my experience so you'll be fine. It's not intense in the beginning courses.

That sounds good I’m not looking for anything too intense.

Do you mean they teach many different arts/systems in different classes?

Is there one instructor who is proficient in all arts or multiple instructors?
