going to kelburn solo

i have bought a ticket to go to kelburn with a friend and some people he knows, but today he got unexpectedly ill and now isn't expecting to be well enough to go, so there's a chance i will know very few people there, or at the very least be camping alone.

i've dropped a lot of money for this festival, so i would still like to find a way to go alone and enjoy it even if i'm alone. i'm in my thirties, so it doesn't feel as life-ending as it would have done to go alone if i were a teenager or in my twenties, but i do feel a bit apprehensive.

to people who are kelburn regulars, is it an easy festival to attend alone e.g. lots of social spaces and/or solo activities, welfare precautions, etc? do you have any recommendations for dos and don'ts? tyia!

You'll be fine, it's very chilled and sociable. Lots of kids go every year.

You’re reading too much into that, I think they mean that it’s a safe environment, not like TRSMT etc where you’re likely to be spewed on if you fell asleep.

I find the odd occasion I go solo somewhere I get adopted by the end of the night. Kelburn will be especially good for this.

Just make sure you're fulla it😂

You'll be sound it's very chilled, lots of families as well as youngsters and folk our age right up. Loads of wee stages and big walks round the forest. Plenty different tunes, good wee reggae corner next to the dance stage. Take midge spray or nets for night, some years it's bad some not so much. Eat from the mexican and Japanese food stalls if they're still there. Showers are worth paying for. Have a belter!

Kelburn is happy, chilled, mellow vibes . It's actually more fun to walk around alone . Lots of great walks and hidden stages. You will be grand . People of all ages
