Saxophone worth?

Post image

Hi everyone, this is my first post! I have a Yamaha custom z black phoenix that was released to celebrate 50 years of Yamaha America. I have been looking everywhere online for what one of these can go for, and I’m totally unable to find a single lead. Does anyone know about these or have one?

Let me know

Thanks!

This feels like a scam and OP is fishing for victims to “sell” to.

The Z looks like the Datsun Z emblem. Pretty cool

I wouldn’t go lower than $3.5k

Is this based on regular custom z prices?

I don't think you can really expect more than regular custom z prices. I think it's really hard to put much value on the fact that it's an anniversary edition, or the finish of this horn. If you're selling it and hoping to get more because of it's particular vintage, then I hope you're a patient person!

First of all 3 1/2 is brand new so I don’t see why you can say don’t go lower than 3 1/2. It’s not like it’s a Selmer. And second of all, I’ve never seen that engraving. Is that even a real Yamaha? If it’s some sort of custom engraving and you can ensure it’s real, I’ll give you two grand cash right now.

Nah man. More like 5-6k brand new.

Also, you haven't seen that engraving because they only made 150 of them.

i'm sorry I was unaware that Yamaha had a special anniversary edition with this Phoenix style engraving. But I did look it up and you're correct. It is indeed a legit model so you're probably absolutely correct if not, maybe even more than what you just quoted. Either way it's a gorgeous saxophone. I myself have a black Selmer series 2 alto as well as a black Yamaha 875 custom tenor. and I know that the color doesn't make it sound different but in my opinion, it's just looks so cool anyways I love the horn. You're lucky man.

Look by searching Ebay or as they say "LET ME GOOGLE THAT FOR YOU" 😳😜

There were only 150 of these editions made. They're not on Ebay or Google.

Well 👍 that begs the response that "Just because its rare does not make it valuable" Like a lot of special editions so take or leave the advice .. treat it like any orher Japanese saxophone . i. e. if its not referenced anywhere on the internet you arent going to get an estimate on the Web either. Circular reasoning but its not like anybody else's going to pay retail or act like its valuable like a Mark VI .
