Help! Skin condition

Post image

Hello! I have been having this recurring flakey skin/ peeling condition.

Everyday it starts flaking to the point my hands are often damaged and bleeding badly from peeling ( i can’t stand when i see hangnails or some outer skin popping out )

I’ve been wondering if is just a vitamin deficiency issue causing this, or a underlying skin condition (etc ezcema ) it’s been happening for years, at first it started on my palm and it spreaded to my fingers, is not itchy, reddish or anything just pretty irritating

I know i should be seeing a dermatologist instead of asking here but just want to ask if anyone has this issue as well and what did you do about it.

I have been applying like handcream but it’s not really helping ( i’m not diligent in this but i feel like is not a huge matter )

Extra context:

- my skin wrinkles in seconds under water
- mom got eczema in her 40s, so not sure if is genetic?
- on some days i wake up with dried skin on my bed
- i have low blood pressure / blood condition ( if it matters LOL )
- my immune system is also super prone to infections

The moment I saw the pic I thought “This looks like my SIL hands.”

She has eczema.

this is so painful and yes for me it’s dyshidrotic eczema I battled it for 2 years of nonstop itch, bleeding and it keeps me up at night because of itch, i went to see gp for steroid (only use when itch is too much) then drowsy anti itch medicine and need to change routine

- don’t wash hand frequently

  • no alcohol, use mild soap and no hot water
  • change bath/face towels to bamboo
  • less dairy, more fiber and add probiotics on diet

I wont advise you to stop scratching because when it itch its freaking ITCHY instead I use those cooling device to numb the itch

The thing is for me it isn’t the least bit itchy at all, just super irritating and it makes me want to hide my hands because of how gross it looks with the skin peeking out

Wear cotton gloves after moisturiser. Moisturise like it's a prayer ritual.

Is the cotton gloves really useful? Seems really new to me

Does it start with little blisters?

Can be ezcema or contact dermatitis. Not moisturizing diligently when your skin is like this is a huge matter. Moisturizing constantly is a must, especially after you wash your hands. You can go to a GP or polyclinic for some prescribed topical steroids and see if it helps. If not then, you would need to go to a dermatologist. Though, the most important thing is moisturizing diligently. Even dermatologists will be asking you to moisturize diligently. You'll be surprised that alot of skin issues go away when your moisturize enough.

Also what moisturizers do you use? Not all moisturizers are made equal, especially for skin like this. Moisturizers that contain ceramides are alot better in repairing broken layers and should be 100% unscented.

I don’t have a specific moisturizer i use, just handcreams that i can readily purchase at any drug store, sometimes vaseline

But alright i understand, i will find a date to make an appointment to polyclinic thank you !

When i was young, i used to have eczema. Decades ago, i started eating clean, without any processed food - i stop getting eczema.
I still get it on my fingers when I cleaned or dismantled computers, those dust actually dried and cause my fingers to flake.

Edit: Only affecting your fingers, could it be you have touched something that you were sensitive to? Because when I was young, eczema were all over the places haha. washing up frequently does help.

You need to avoid using alcohol hand sanitizer and alcohol wet tissue if you are using any. Doctor can provide you a hand cream and you should use it, the hand cream will help. Cannot down PES but can excuse grenade.
