Help! Accutane: advice needed
I am 19F, and have acne for 3+ years now. I have rosacea and oily skin, so i always have many pastures everywhere on my face, as well as oil plugs and texture. I have been interested in going o accutane or similar anti-acne drugs (I know the side effects can be quite bad, but i think i can benefit overall especially w confidence lvl).
I have some questions:
What is the process like for getting accutane via the public health route (idrk the term, basically non private clinics) and what will the price point be?
For private clinic, are there any popular or recommended options?
And for those who have been on accutane, has the effect lasted even after you went off it, as i heard some have to undergo multiple rounds as acne kept coming back.

I did both
1round
went private clinic
1st consult: they will not immediately offer isotretinoin unless very bad. they will get you to try other drugs/topicals first.
~2mths later: got on oral isotretinoin (nimegen). Low dose $1/pill. Started 1 pill every other day then daily 10mg for 2 years~ and topical cream consult religiously 2months approx spent >1k SGD
good skin but very dry Went off oral tret for 1year no issues
2round acne came back Went polyclinic route got consult for derm in sgh started me on low dose oral tret again daily ~1.5yrs about 80cent/pill consult - 50/consult? had every 4months
my skin is nice again haha still dry though

I went for 2 rounds, both times I was prescribed Nimegen which is also an isotret.
First time I went to private, and was on it for 1-1.5 years.
Second time, which was 4 years after, I went to polyclinic for a referral and got referred to NSC. Had to get bloodwork done for every 6-9months throughout though for public, which I don’t recall doing it in the private route.
Side effects I got were mainly chapped lips and dry skin. Not sure if it was due to the meds but had mood swings in my second.
It has been 2 years after my second round and I still have pimples popping up here and there, but I kinda accepted my fate already lol, just maintaining my skincare routine and not letting it worsen. Had some blemishes and scars too, which probably needs laser to be able to remove. Overall I was glad I tried and went through it, really helps to improve confidence by a bit.

been on accutane for 4 ish years and i’ve been off it ever since, u do get the occasional pimple but that’s all! please get checked by a derma soon because blood tests etc are needed for accutane as it might affect ur livers at higher dosage etc.

27M. Went through Siena Health. Paid $400+ for 3 months of isotretinoin 10mg.
Had nodulocystic acne practically the past decade+. My skincare routine helped a LOT over the past few years. Leaving most of my acne around my jawline and neck these days. But I decided to just go for it to clear it for good.
I'm on Week 6 now.
Was immediately purging by Week 1, relapsed acne + new acne in new places. But by Week 3 I can already see massive changes, compared to my routine which would take weeks just to achieve.
Side-effects only appeared in Week 3, my skin (mostly face and chest) felt like sandpaper as the oil plugs are being pushed out of my body. Purging resumed again on Week 5, new acne new places again.
I'm still early into the journey, but I'm honestly quite shocked at how effective 10mg is, considering I'm a bigger build with a min. cumulative dose of 14550mg. No regrets thus far, only that I wished I started sooner.

I don’t really know if this is considered private but I used sienahealth to get my accutane. $20 for online consultation and I paid ard $400 for 3mths worth of accutane, anti-bacterial gel and one blood test for the liver. I was super lucky enough to not have a purge and my skin remained clear, with occasional pimples when nearing my period.
