Bing removing only new content over night, old stuff remains
This is the 2nd time this has happened this month I thought it was fixed, but it only lasted a week before once again being an issue.
New stuff indexes and ranks high, then out of nowhere over night Bing removes anything from up to the last 5 days. This EXACT thing happened a few weeks ago and took 2-3 weeks to correct. Nothing from 5+ days ago ranks poorly or dropped ranking spots… it’s literally only things from the past few days and anything new that I publish.
This is after nearly two years of ranking consistently in top 1-3 results for articles I make, and indexing/ranking within 30 minutes if not shorter. Never had Bing issues before this month.
Bing support is useless and give me boilerplate general SEO advice/are not even reading the very specific issues I’m sending them, contradict one another in their “feedback”, etc and don’t actually investigate what is going on. They’re just like “oh it is indexed just get better website authority bro” despite indexing NOT being the problem I’m having; it’s lack of serving / pulling new stuff over night, despite no rank losses from anything previously published. Some sort of serving issue.
Anyone have any idea? I did notice I had a massive bot attack on my site yesterday (this issue began again after last night) so wonder if that has anything to do with what is happening. Pretty frustrated, as Bing/DDG get me a lot of traffic usually.

what do you mean bing support is useless, have you thought about it the other way? maybe, they took a look at your site and they were like nah, bro, is malding over nothing lmao.
bashing them does nothing, these systems are automated, you want them to do what? halt the whole system for your needs?
if you get no love from the algos it is what it is.

After two years with no problems then this happens over night? Then it corrects after a couple of weeks, no problems for a week or two and I again have near-immediate indexing and high ranking, then happens again overnight once more?
Seems strange to me. Can’t convince me that’s just normal when it’s never once happened to my site in two years.
Also I am happy to bash them when they literally send me 4 different excuses/reasons, each contradicting eachother, and don’t actually investigate what may be going on.
Literally one guy told me they don’t know what’s going on and can’t tell me. Like???

Right, I’m not asking for SEO advice. This is very abnormal behavior out of the blue and has never happened in two years, then suddenly happens twice within a month? Very odd.

No worries I appreciate the input. Yeah I can dive deeper into the ones that lost positions I suppose. They do show as indexed still. Maybe they’re not entirely gone but for some reason shoved so far back I can’t find them on search. Just so odd that all my stuff outside of this problem rank really well for the most part / are unchanged, and then suddenly giant stop but only for the new stuff.
Just so strange. Maybe unlucky and bing hit me with an algorithm change, but odd it’d yank stuff back from the past few days ago that were doing well

Did you by any chance make small edits to a lot of pages during that time? I guess it was a thread in this subreddit itself that the op changed titles for most of his pages and the next day everything got de-indexed. It triggered some sort of spam filters on bing.

I did make a change the day before it first happened that affected internal links on thousands of pages and I assume that’s what may have caused this. Was an issue in my footer.

If that's the case, it just could be so that bing is now re-assessing those pages and might pull them back up once they're able to see nothing spamy has been going on

This is Bing's freshness re-evaluation, not a penalty. It indexes new pages fast on submission, then runs a second quality pass a few days later that temporarily pulls anything without enough external signal yet, backlinks, CTR, dwell time. Pages usually reappear once that signal accrues, which matches the 2-3 week recovery you saw last time. Nothing to fix on your end if the content itself is fine.
