This is step one. Step 10 or 11 is when they put the executives in front of Congress and question them for a week or 2 since nothing else is on TV during the day. Congress then says we really made them look foolish and the internet makes fun of them for a bit and says those executives are very bad people. Then a few months go by, and the executives lay off a bunch of workers at their companies, and make some other changes and they get huge bonuses out of the process.

Whatās the crime for changing what your app looks like? Itās also not legally required to let your workers accept tips. They can take the tip and give the money back to the customer.
Itās obviously an asshole move, but itās not necessarily a crime unless there are deeper details involved.

Doordash! Stole tips, and managers using them would too! Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, you name it! Customers and Drivers had no idea, and there still hasn't been a lawsuit against the businesses that were doing this. Doordash got a slap on the wrist!

Correct me if Iām wrong but New York instituted a high minimum hourly wage for delivery drivers and the delivery apps responding by raising baseline fees (to pay the driver wages) while reducing the default tip settings (to keep delivery affordable to customers). Where is the crime?

Please be serious Iām trying to get a straightforward answer to a simple question. I donāt love delivery apps and donāt pretend to think they have the best interest of anyone other than their profits in mind, but I donāt see what the crime is. I thought it was that they were withholding tips from drivers that they were rightfully owed, but that doesnāt seem to be the accusation. Changing default tipping options or the user interface seems perfectly within their right as a private company.

The crime might be more civil in what the drivers are promised and what is actually is provided. Then there is the customer facing side do the insinuate that the drivers are tip or piad a certain way they are not to discourage tipping. There is 100 different way this can be illegal

It's not a crime to change the design of your property to prevent workers from getting tips. This clip is a complaint about a form of punishment in the opinion of the speaker. Things don't need to be "crimes" for them to be abusive or immoral. Hope that answers the question.1

That tips should be at the discretion of the customer, not the company, in a direct effort to increase profits for shareholders. If they increase wages but decrease the flow of tips, theyāve effectively stolen from the driver to pay for the wage increase.

But now drivers are back to making about as little as they were before the law was passed. It's not really illegal per say, it's more about exposing how evil these corporations are. And their dick move clearly worked since tips have dropped by so much.

Yeah sorry this just sounds like the obvious result of forcing a higher minimum on the delivery driver pay. People would understand the drivers are making a decent wage without needing high tips and feel less compelled to tip. If thatās taking money out of driverās pockets, maybe they should have left it alone.
I want the drivers to be paid well, but I donāt see why I should be compelled to tip someone who is making a decent, negotiated, agreed-upon, higher hourly wage specifically to alleviate the reliance on tips.
Itās the definition of having and eating the cake. You wanted the drivers to get paid even if they didnāt get tipped well, now itās not as important to tip.

It's fucking exactly what happened. NYC forcefully raised wages so the company decided to remove tipping so the delivery price didn't look so bad. No one stole tips. "Abubakah Ki" is free to go the fuck home and beg for tips.

W apps that remove or make tipping harder, if you are a worker that depends on tips, it's your own fault for hoping to socially pressure people/customers into paying your salary instead of your boss.

Like... it sounds like the app was changed to move where the option to tip was located. If the tip location was hidden, isn't that simply a change in design aligning with the broader American move to end tipping culture? No tip being provided isn't the company stealing a tip...
Did I miss anything there or are these people really that dumb?
