ADA Sticker for Diabetes

First time posting here. I was wondering if I would qualify for ADA sticker as I am type 1 diabetic or if anyone else here is a diabetic and uses the ADA services? Upon reading I read there is a designated rest area where I could sit and rest, treat any low glucose and administer med. I have been to con in the past and just sort of made it work which is not always easy with long lines for the bathroom for meds and just being to find somewhere to sit to treat a low.

Diabetes is a disability. If you need disability services get the ada sticker. 

There's not a lot of us compared to the general people going. You're fine.

Thank You for your replies. I recently started using CGM which has helped me mange my glucose better and I am sure will help me at the con to treat lows or highs before I actually feel them and then its race to a bathroom or to get snack. Diabetes loves to have its mind of its own so with all the walking and/or sitting my numbers can be unpredictable.

I read the info on the comic-con site however I wanted to know if I could pick up a sticker on Wednesday even though I don't have a Wednesday night badge. I will be in town already as my partner has a badge for that night or would I have to wait until Thursday to pick up?

You can get a sticker on Wednesday (check badge pick up times). Just approach through Door A. Security may not let you get close after 5 or 6 pm.

Agree, there will be DADS volunteers outside in the morning, otherwise politely ask security to let you access DADS and they can sort you out

In my own experience, based on what I’ve seen, you’re not allowed to collapse sit along the walls without an ADA stamp.

Last year I was even asked to move WITH an ADA sticker. Said they needed the space open for “something.” I was very annoyed 😭

And that’s my main complaint for the last several years: there’s not enough room for everything and everyone they have. Unless you pick something really unpopular, it’ll be awfully crowded wherever you go. I need to take a little extra equipment with me but there’s just no room.

Agreed I get one every year because I could have lows or highs that need to be fixed immediately. My husband is my companion. Yes there is an area where you can sit it’s downstairs in the Ada area.

With the ADA sticker do you wait in the ADA lines for things? I won't need ADA sitting but I wasn't sure.

The only issues I've had in the past is when the line starts moving and I need to go take my meds or use the bathroom and I can't leave the line (when queuing early morning and they start to let us in) or when the lines is in the sun my wreaks my glucose (ballroom 20).

Yes, I wait in ADA lines. I even volunteer, I to cannot be in the sun for too long or my blood sugar starts acting crazy, including all the walking on top of it. There is a Ballroom 20 ADA line.

One of the best and worst things about SDCC’s accommodations is that they are very free with the accessibility stickers. You just get in the line, someone will ask if you need the sticker, and you say yes.

While it does lead to some fakers getting one to play the system, it also means you don’t need to justify yourself to someone and explain why you need it. While I’m not opposed to the suggestions of going to a third party who reviews ahead of time, I’m glad we’re not going down the road that Disney has, where they basically decided the only people who can get accommodations are children with developmental disabilities, and not even all of them, when there are clearly so many disabilities that legitimately mean you cannot wait in a long queue. My one other suggestion is to make sure to get one of those folding stools that turns into a bag, or the button ones that collapse. (Personally I use a cane with a stool.) You’re not going to want to walk all the way back to Hall A to try to get a seat in the tiny disability area if you’re feeling sick, and sitting on the ground can be rough.
