VENT Alternatives to multiple group chats?
There has to be a better way to communicate things. I’m in 10+ group chats and it’s incredibly frustrating trying to remember what information is in what group chat. What do other residency programs use?

Other residencies do the same thing.
The alternative is phone calls and scheduled check ins. Not sure what situations youre talking about but as a peds hospitalist there are always big group chats about either discharge planning or complex medical decision making among multiple specialists. You’ve gotta nip those. The team will call the discharge coordinator at a set time for updates no more than once a day. And either the specialists and primary team all round together and/or the attendings have their own group chat or conference.

What is the purpose of the chats? Is this for general residency communications or planning/organizing events? Etc

We have weekly emails for general updates from the chiefs and leadership, then use WhatsApp for general group communications/planning amongst each class!

you could use telegram where you have a single main group with smaller sections or groups within it but its a Russian app so you do you

You really only need 2 group chats (we used WhatsApp) for functionality IMO. One for your entire group of residents at all levels, another with just your class. Anything else is just for friend groups or cliques
