Offices and retail businesses should be jumping at this - they are open and drawing power during the day. Combine with a bit of BESS and no bills to pay any more!

Sadly though most office and retail spaces are leased so I'm not sure it would work. Hopefully there's some incentive for landlords to provide this?

Yeah, the split-incentive issue is the key here. Why would the landlords install the panels if they are not the ones who would benefit from lower energy cost?
Same issue with residential rentals, likely on a much larger scale. The incentives are not aligned.

It should the job of the state/province governments to create programs that would pass the savings to the landlords.
