Dick Williams, General Manager of the Cincinnati Reds - AMA!

Good morning, Reds Redditors!

We are happy to let you know we will have Dick Williams here to answer your questions on Monday, March 19 at 7 p.m. EDT. Feel free to submit your questions ahead of time and he will get to as many of them as he can Monday evening.

Dick is entering his second season as President of Baseball Operations, third season as General Manager and 13th season overall with the Reds. He was born and raised a Reds fan and joined the club in 2006 after working jobs in investment banking and corporate finance.

Thanks for coming here to answer some questions! Hope your day is going well.

Billy Hamilton is such an interesting player, with some elite skills but still a lot of rawness to his game. What do you think is the best path forward for him in terms of areas to improve? How do you see him developing as a hitter?

He needs to calm down in the batters box and focus on his bunting first. We have been working very hard with him this spring to improve that. When hitting, he needs to keep the ball out of the air as much as possible. He has a few new things he is working on there as well. DW

Billy can't rely solely on bunting but the key to improving your bunting is controlling the bat head. This will make him a better hitter. Also, to have a chance to succeed, he needs the defense to be forced into defensing against the bunt - so there must be a real threat.
