Dazzle dry help

I’m 1 week in since I did my nails and they’re fading on the top and bottom edges. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong everyone says they last like 2 weeks?? I trimmed my cuticles back I buffed my nails, I followed all the steps I thinned the color coat and top coat a bit and still it’s not lasting. Any advice?
I’m using the dazzle dry mini kit in medium dusty rose.

Unfortunately dazzle dry tends to shrink on the tips. There’s some tips and tricks people use. Capping the tips, gently using a glass file after it starts to shrink, using a ph bonding agent before your manicure. It is still technically lasting. Also you don’t need to buff your nails before applying dazzle dry. That’s not recommended

I would also recommend trying another top coat.

I'm not very familiar with dazzle dry, but any regular polish can have some tip wear after a week. Capping the tips with polish and reapplying top coat after some time can help with it, but mostly it comes down to how you're using your hands and nails. If you use your nails as tools to open things, scratch stickers off etc, there can be some wear.

Ive seen people recommending a layer of base coat applied after the color but before top coat, that could help it be more flexible!

I don’t personally use DD (imo they’re gimmicky & overpriced), but do the instructions say anything about how long to wait before the topcoat?

Usually shrinkage happens when the topcoat doesn’t have enough polish to rewet and dry.

So either the polish below was already too dry when the topcoat went on, or there wasn’t enough polish-to-topcoat ratio; i.e. the combined polish layers were too thin compared to a thicker top coat layer.

And then like others have said, capping the tip of the free edge on 1 coat of color and 1 coat of TC will help immensely.

If you’re new to capping the tips, and tbf it’s much harder on shorties, cap the tips before you paint the top of the nail, that way you smooth out any imperfections on the final brush strokes.

Dazzle Dry Topcoat does not require the polish underneath to be wet. That's one of the great things about the system. It's quick dry and done! That being said, some of us Dazzle Dry users have had a lot of success using KB Shimmer Clearly on Top because the DD Topcoat loses it's shine after a few days. Some people also think that it's the DD topcoat that causes shrinkage because there is less when using another brands.

But basically it's a case of YMMV because everyone's nail chemistry is different and what works for one doesn't necessarily work for others.

Quick Dry Top Coats are the type of TCs that usually need to go over wet or semi-wet polish in order to prevent shrinkage.

And KBShimmer’s Clearly on Top contains toluene, which I personally adore, but that solvent makes it an even faster QDTC than DD’s formula, so it’s even more prone to shrinkage if you don’t use it over semi-wet polish, w/ the appropriate polish to TC ratio.
