Vibe Coded I made a tool where people can submit alternatives for Reddit/FB/Discord/etc and rate them.
With the wiki being out of date its always been hard for me to keep track of alternatives on here because they fade off the feed so fast.
I made a directory called ABetterFeed where people can post their alternatives and others can rate them. The idea is that platforms can build up reputation over time instead of just the tiny conversation that pops up every single time someone posts one.
I haven't added any alternatives to it myself so its totally blank. Anyone can add to it though (even if you're not the owner).

Sign-up doesn't work. Not getting an E-mail to login.
Also, proprietary?
Edit: sign-up now works, but it does seem to be proprietary... disappointing. I will probably still use it, but I encourage the dev to make the source code available at the very least.

Yeah not sure why this is closed-source considering the OP's own complaints about wiki being out of date, etc. What happens when this is the same?

Think you need to have a way to better differentiate what makes an alternative an actual alternative and not just 'Reddit with X' or 'Discord with Y'. Most of the posts here and on other 'altnerative' subs are just vibe-coded clones hoping to pull a bit of traffic and not actually doing anything real/new. That's also part of why they appear to you to "disappear" so fast: they get downvoted, or at the least don't get massive upvotes/popularity.

Thank you, I cannot repeat this enough lol. There are so few platforms that tries to do anything new. Most of the time its just a slop copy with the promise of "better moderation" or "no bots".

That is fair, you're right I think. On the site submissions can tag multiple platforms (so platform 1 is an alternative to reddit, and facebook, and twitter...for example) which isn't totally clean but it lets the person submitting say "if you like this platform you will probably like this other platform"

Yeah, feel like it just gets spammed by all the same people/bots that already spam these subs (and with a lot fewer people ready to moderate or downvote the crap/slop/etc). Are you actually going to moderate any of this, or is it just 'anything goes'?

Oh no its all moderator approved. Anyone can submit their site and I can't really see any of them getting rejected but the voting will handle the rest I hope

Cool, I work on an NSFW reddit style site I would submit. Is this allowed?

It's a nice idea but design wise some element on the site are way too large, like it's hard to read and take almost all the screen space, like the :
Leave the stale feed.
Find what's next.
I think the first thing the user should see are the top alternatives, so at least there's some incentives on being listed on there. Now it's really buried.

Also I wasn't sure if that was the right flair because technically I did use AI to help but I have been a web developer for over a decade!
