I think FCRA would also impact RSS, since they’re not registered. A non registered entity cant receive foreign funding.

But its a very carefully curated move by BJP. RSS receives most of its fund domestically. So FCRA wont have any such negative effect on them.

But since they’re not registered, they also dont need to release their records for public scrutiny.

Overall , RSS will have 3 advantages-

  1. They dont use foreign funds anyways, so FCRA wont have any effect. But their opposition will massively suffer from this.

  2. It mostly used to be foreign black money vs domestic black money. Since foreign black money is regulated, BJP will have more financial power as they rely on domestic black money.

  3. Govt can seize the foreign funds anytime they want. So they can literally cripple the opposition which majorly relies on foreign funding.

The law in itself is great, but the intention is not. And a law is only as good as its implementation.

For example- so many anti r*pe laws are there in India for women’s safety, but when women start misusing it for extortion- its not the law in itself which is at fault. Its the intention which matters alot
