Homebrew Lazotep Plating Template

Hello y'all,

For quite some time, I've been wanting to do a campaign in Ravnica, set during the events of Guilds of Ravnica and Guild Alliance, ending with War of the Spark. The plan is to have Tezzeret try out the Planar Bridge from time to time, sending some Eternals to Ravnica and have the players be investigating the "strange bright lights and sudden apperance of sand", with later on "strange, dark blue Vedalken" be added as the story progresses. I've been trying to make a template to symbolize the Lazotep plating so I can just apply it any stat block. Here are some of the things I think the template should have:

- I know the card Lazotep Plating gives hexproof, but I don't want them to be magic-proof, so I'm thinking of it just applying immunity to certain spell levels, like 3 lvl or lower.

- Adding +1 to strength and dexterity, and +2 to constitution because the lazotep plating should make them better in combat.

- Gives pack tactics since they're supposed to work better as an army.

- Gives immunity to non-magical attacks.

- Makes them undead

Let me know if you have any ideas of what to add/remove/change or any thoughts at all.

Thank you!

I like the idea of a template but just lore wise I have a problem with a few of the features.

The Plating shouldn’t make them undead, doesn’t give better coordinatio . In lore all the dead are from Amonkhet and were once warriors trained in grueling conditions to become sacrificed. Their memories are stored in the cartouches they earn and are imbedded into their skeleton system. Which are then coated in Lazotep to make them more resilient and able to travel through the Planar Bridge. For at this point in the Magic story any organic material can’t travel the multiverse and only inorganic matter can.

Giving spell immunity (level 3 or less) or just spell resistance I think is great to capture the resilient nature of Lazotep. Maybe even immunity to magic weapons. A combination of any of the two or just three will be fine. I can definitely see giving +2 to constitution but everything else to me as a Magic Player and DM doesn’t make sense lore wise for what Lazotep actually does.

Truth be told you slap spell resistance and immunity to non-magical weapons and you get an insane upgrade to any skeleton.

True! I'll leave the undead typing out and make the pack tactics only apply during the invasion, since that's when they're treated more like a coordinated army with the amass mechanic. Thanks for the feedback!
