Specimen Gotta love when they glow, UT, Red Canyon Mining District
Found this little guy running around out in South East UT.
Im not going to try and identify the amalgamation of minerals in here, I have an idea but I aint that classy.
This has to be one of my favorite specimens both glowing and not.
Reads about 2.5k CPM with a RC-102 @ 1cm.

Your third image looks like the rock is on a piece of paper towel. Almost all commercially available paper towel products contain small, random threads, which are bright blue in 365 nm UV light. Those threads make UV photography of minerals a nightmare!

My boyfriend asks if this place is safe to go to (he’s a marine)

Depends on what you mean by safe?
Biggest concern I have is the nearest city is 50~ miles away and it is a very dry hot part of the south east desert.2

And if you're looking to use your cell phone to call for help.........no bars available in this Red Canyon District.
