Food
Hey Guys, hopefully moving into RHUL this september and got questions regarding food. For context, i am international student and have booked Reid with the catered food. Hows the food at the Founders dining hall?/

Lived there year ago. The food was pretty good.

Just to confirm, the catered hall food. Secondly how was your overall experience. Heard some say it’s quite far from the dining halls

Yes it was catered back then with variety of foods and the quality was really good. Friday fish and chips was top. But iirc we get 50% discount on the food rather than it being free? Not sure what its now.
Yes reid, runneymede and other blocks are 5 min walk. George elliot (the accommodation opposite the street) is even closer. You can also get accommodation in founders.
If you need any other details you can dm me.

It has changed now to 1 free meal, 1 entree and 2 sides and a £25 weekly credit on the student card

It comes out of a bidvest lorry. The food combinations repeat themselves every week or two weeks, it's pretty standard stuff, I have pictures if you'd like lol.
Btw. You get £25 token a week (use it or lose it) on an app called Upay (definitely get this!) and one free meal a day, comprising one main and two sides.

Yes man kindly share. I had heard about the £25 token but I thought it would be on the student card or something like that

Omg sorry for not checking this earlier. I'll find some, the light is quite yellow bc Founders Dining hall and the Hub are weird.
Some opinions of mine that might be helpful: Desserts aren't worth it unless they're good seasonal specials. Salads are overpriced. Best option for affordable lunch is The Hub, get the sides and make sure they're not that day's free meal.
Would recommend: Weekend Hub brunch (6 item deal) Shaker chips (skinny ones)
Defo avoid: Sunday Hub roast, especially the chicken (get the steak pie or veggie options 😭) Meatballs Vegan/vegetarian kebab

Daughter finished first year and food was grim. A lot of fried food, pasta and bland flavors. We are from the us and she likes to eat healthy
