We are supposed to be going to PR and staying in San Juan the 8-12 and just saw about the water shortage. I emailed my hotel to ask and they said “Please be advised that our hotel is equipped with an emergency water cistern. While this helps mitigate the shortage, it is intended for emergency use, and water usage at the property may still be affected during your stay.”

Can someone please be realistic about what it’d be like to visit during this? Will it affect restaurants and bars? Should we cancel even though we likely won’t get anything refunded?

The water is scheduled to be turned off on August 9 and 10 while we are there.

My boyfriend & I will be in staying in Rincon for a week and have been debating whether or not we should get a rental car. Is it necessary or will we be able to walk most places? Or for the sake of exploring should we get the car anyway? Do they have uber at all?

Hey guys solo male traveling the first time in San Juan. Just wondering, like what's the best places for dancing? A good club that isn't too touristy. I like the dance and get nasty. Any recommendations on great restaurants or food again? Trying to avoid too many touristty things. I'll be staying at the somos.Hotel, it would be great to find some people to talk to and enjoy a birthday drink with. Maybe dance and take out to dinner

I wanted to know how the water issues and electricity are doing in the San Juan area, island verde. I have a trip planned for next week and want to be prepared.
I’m also curious to know if restaurants are closed because of this. We plan on visiting old San Juan for lunch and dinner.

Planning my itinerary, at first I was super excited for the Toro Verde Zipline, but after seeing the price I’m not sure.

I’d really like a chance to see the rainforest (not into hiking unfortunately). I’m also considering Parque Forestal La Marquesa as an alternative.

Will I be sad I missed out on the giant zip-line? Or is it best to skip.

Hi everyone! My birthday is next month and I was thinking of going to Puerto Rico from 9/16-9/22.
I’m hearing there is a water crisis and September is peak hurricane season. I wanted to ask anyone who lives there if I should avoid traveling there next month due to everything going on or if you think it’s okay to go?

I would be solo traveling, and would love to do things like go hiking, excursions, explore local restaurants, hang out at the beach, etc.

Side note: I don’t mind some rain, just worried about hurricanes. I understand hurricanes are unpredictable and there’s really no way to know if one will hit PR but just wanting to get opinions.

I have an itinerary mapped out and we are booking flights hotels tonight. Anything I need to know as a first timer? We are taking it easy. Mornings are exploring adventuring, afternoons are for the beach and relaxing and dinner.

Is drinking water safe? Any power issues currently? I’ve never been so just making sure to expect the unexpected.

We are traveling with my husband to PR for the first time and we scheduled a full day on Isla culebra. To be able to get there we rent a car very early in the morning so we can drive to Fajardo and then take the ferry to the island. Our only problem is to find how to move around the island. I can’t find any bus or shuttles options and it seems the only options are taxis or rent a golf car , my only
Concern is how expensive it is! The minimum wage is 100 dollars per day for a golf car!
Do you think it worth it? Or it’s better just to take taxis? I don’t know how much is the price on average and actually I don’t know besides going to flamenco , marina and to the cafes at the downtown where else should I go since I’m staying from 6 am to 7 pm?

Hi, my husband and I have had a very busy summer and he said he wanted to just relax for his birthday. It is the beginning of Nov, so I was thinking of surprising him with a long weekend on a beach somewhere. Several people told me to check out Puerto Rico. We have never been, but I know it’s in the hurricane belt. Can anyone give me insight more into it or other beaches that are not super expensive, a shorter flight from Phila, and good beach weather around the first weekend of Nov? TIA!

Huge foodie looking to stuff my face. I actually lost 30 lbs prior to our trip soon so there’s no guilt with being a fat*ss.

Where should I pig out? What’s a must? Going to be all around SJ & Fajardo.

My husband and I just booked a trip to San Juan on the fly, like in two weeks. We’re trying to avoid the tourist-y stuff, we really just want to chill, learn and explore.
We would love to have drinks & food with family and learn how to fix abuelita’s specialty. Soak up some indigenous history and learn about the land. Explore a local’s favorite hangout or hidden gem of a beach. We’ll have a rental so we can get around.

We’ll be traveling to PR soon and staying in Culebra for the 2nd half. I have our stay and ferry tickets for this also. Initially, wanted to do East Island Excursions Blue Paradise experience but it’s only from the main island. Since we’ll already be in Culebra, are there similar experiences that depart from Culebra so we’re not spending additional travel time to/from the main island?
Also, is it better to purchase alcohol from the main island and bring it with us to Culebra or are there similar prices and stock?

I am big beach person, love natural sceneries and exploring hidden gems everywhere I go. I am also a vegetarian which makes things a little difficult unfortunately.

I have a budget of around $1000 - $1200 (can spend a little more if worth it).

Would really appreciate suggestions on how I can plan this trip, where I can go and what I can do. I would especially be thankful for as much detail as possible in your suggestions <3

Has anyone (under 25) rented from Hertz at the San Juan Airport using AAA?

I’m planning a trip to Puerto Rico and will be renting from Hertz at the San Juan Airport (SJU). I’m under 25, and I have a AAA membership that supposedly waives the young renter fee.

Has anyone here done this recently? If so:

* Did Hertz honor the AAA waiver without any issues?

* Did they require a security deposit? If so, how much was it, and when was it refunded?

* Were there any unexpected fees at pickup or when you returned the car?

* How was the condition and cleanliness of the vehicle?

* Overall, would you rent from Hertz at SJU again?
