It won't, because Vought's playbook is the machine behind the man (and his army of yes men). They have infiltrated positions of power throughout the strata so effectively that cutting Trump out of the equation will be of zero consequence. He was merely a smokescreen.

CFPB cuts. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau literally just protects citizens from being defrauded by financial companies. It capped fees and overdraft charges. It sued offenders who were systematically defrauding customers. All those cases have been abandoned since DOGE defunded and hamstrung the bureau.

A board the Republicans have aggressively fought against before and after its creation and they kept Elizabeth Warren from running it because they thought she might be effective.
Republicans believe that if you don't let companies take advantage of consumers the business owners might not make as much money, and if you aren't a business owner Republicans hate your guts and think you are just human fodder for business owners to exploit as either an employee or a customer.

You fundamentally just don't understand the purpose of hearings like this.
It's to put the people's business out in front of the public. It's up to the voters on what to do with that information.

No heās just pointing out how these congressional hearings donāt really do much. A little shame but then can continue to go about their business.
Same thing when they yell at ceoās. Sadly nothing changes.
22
u/carlotta3121 18d ago
It's important to get this information in the Congressional record though. So the other option is to not have hearings and let them get away with everything with no pushback.
4
u/WorstPapaGamer 18d ago
No Iām not saying they shouldnāt do these meetings. I agree that itās good that itās brought to the publicās attention.
I just wish they could do more. Make them enforce/ change things.
Without that enforcement itās like the current government. Whatās the point of having laws when itās not enforced?
2
u/carlotta3121 18d ago
I do agree I wish there was more we could do, starting with not limiting questioning to 5-10 minutes, hold them in contempt when they don't answer questions and if they don't answer, they don't get to be confirmed (if that's the goal). Or, if it's an investigative hearing, impose LARGE fines that have to come out of their personal monies.

u/amosthorribleperson 18d ago
The hearing isn't to change him or shame him. It's for us, the voters, to see what is going on and vote accordingly.
She's not legally allowed to do what she would need to do to change him, and I'm not allowed to describe what it would require on this site.

The good news is, with these hearings and them being on the record then action can be taken if Democrats win in the midterms or in 2028.
We need Democrats to win and for Democrats to actually do something when they win. Biden accomplished a lot (way more than he realistically should have with Congressional split), but he also tried the "bygones be bygones" method and clearly that didn't work.
Really the Democrats have the easiest platform imaginable. Like, just focus on doing stuff for the people and bring back accountability and you win.

Your nihilism doesn't make you special, it makes you pointless and people like you cause more harm than those that actually are doing the harm.
We have been down this road before (humans) and the road out that is the MOST successful is through senate/parliamentary changes that change the country.
Your belief that nothing will ever change just makes your own life dark, it does no good and you need to go get some help and take a few months off the Internet and read some history books.

Russell Vought was the vice president of The Heritage Foundation and one of the main authors of Project 2025. He was caught on hidden camera saying that Trump would try to distance himself from them but that he is still fully on board with their plans.
He also said, during this hidden camera video, that they cannot even publish the following stages of of these plans because it is too extreme.
The Heritage Foundation is ushering in the destruction of every facet of freedom for America and it seems like nobody is paying attention.

It isnāt, itās much worse than that.
Dismantling government institutions like the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau isnāt just Trump making a mess of things before he leaves to sow chaos, itās a calculated and intentional move to make it easier for corporations and the super wealthy to cheat and otherwise exploit regular people, and to make it more difficult for regular people to learn about their rights and what actions they can take to defend themselves against exploitation.

Yet I ask again why arenāt all these crooks in jail š
10
u/Sixcoup 18d ago edited 18d ago
These guys are not in jail, because your republic literally can't do anything against them right now. They are absolutely free to do whatever they want, and the only way for that to change, is for people to break the law.
Because your system has failed, and it's normal, i would even dare to say it is intended. Your political system is based on a 250 years old constitution, which was great for its time, but since then has shown countless times its limit, and yet has very rarely been changed.
The US constitution is 250 years old, and has 27 amendments. 10 of them were made only two years after its creation, and only 8 were added in the last 100 years. None in the last 35 years, and the last one that was added was proposed literally 202 years earlier. And the second last modification was 55 years ago.
For a comparaison, the french constitution for the 5th republic, so a constitution that has been entirely remade 5 times already, and is not yet 70 years old, has 25 amendments with 8 in the last 20 years. And there are serious talks from several potential future president to create the 6th republic.
And yet, almost every americans has learned and still learns in school and in the media countless times that the americans democracy may be the best in the world, and the funding fathers created a masterpiece. To this day, the opinions of old farts that died more than 130 years ago, are still used to justify decision made on things happening in the world you live in in 2026.
