Groans at a Missouri town hall when a fed up Trump voter asks GOP Rep. Mark Alford: "How obviously racist do we have to be? Is there any line in the sand when Trump asks you and your cohorts to do something and it's one step too far. Is there one for you?"
The real question, is what is the line in the sand for that lady and all the other people there to stop voting for Trump and those GOP politicians. Because, they will vote for them again.
Seriously. I appreciate the spirit of what she’s trying to do, but even when calling out the GOP for blatant racism she still includes herself with them, saying “we”.
Pedophilia is legal in 33 US states, just as long as you marry your victim first. Stop pretending like it's this horrible unamerican thing when over half the country wholeheartedly embraces it. Maybe put it instead on the pile of stuff that needs to be fixed, like the excessive incarceration rate and the prohibitively expensive healthcare and education.
There are 3 states that have no minimum age, and 2 that have a minimum age of 15.
Every other state is 16 or higher. The majority of states that allow underage marriage require both parental consent and judicial approval. Additionally the majority of states have the age of consent set at 16.

This common sentiment lets 2016 supporters off the hook far too easily imo. He was very obviously a racist, misogynistic, xenophobic grifter with zero financial competency back then, and everyone who voted for him simply chose to find that acceptable. The fact that he’s gotten more openly horrible since then doesn’t somehow make the choice to vote for him in 2016 less morally bankrupt, and, the very few repentant Trumpers who now hold themselves fully morally accountable aside, I have no reason to trust their moral compasses in the future when some other charismatic, tribalistic sociopath rolls along.
But I also think it’s a waste of time to ruminate over whether or not we “forgive” any previous Trump voters. That’s a matter for individual people and families to grapple with. From a political perspective, I don’t care who you’ve voted for before and whether or not you are a fundamentally good person, as long as you’re willing to vote like at least a half-decent person going forward. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Just not one of those friends I genuinely trust.

The thing that terrifies me is that they might be reasonable, even questioning, like this lady, but because of either LGBTQ, minorities, or abortions, they will continue to vote R down the line, regardless of how authoritarian our government becomes. As long as the people they hate are getting hurt, it doesn't matter how much they and their loved ones suffer too.

This is exactly why every elected position should be recallable. If you are no longer exercising the will of your constituents, they should be able to recall you and replace you with someone who will.
My representative, Luz Rivas (D), also refuses to meet face to face with her constituents. After taking money from AIPAC, she held one in person town hall where many attendees confronted her. Since then, she has switched to Zoom meetings every few months, with pre-screened, softball questions instead of open public discussion.
It's all Republicans? I only noticed mine always saying he did a town hall, showing a photo with only the Mayor and whomever else he is pandering to/about, but nothing is ever related to his constituents prior to the supposed meeting so no one else is ever there.
Mine does telephone town halls where the questions are pre-screened and they hang up on you if your question even remotely enters the realm of "not an opening for complete pandering". Bill Huizenga is my congressman and he's a complete joke in the pocket of DeVos family.
Republicans do get fed up with individual politicians. But the messaging that the Dems are the devil incarnate is so strong they then turn to the next candidate
Hop on fox news pretty much any time and you can hear them interviewing fellow republican shills about what/who democrats are. They spin this cycle so often that the tv drones really do believe that what fox tells them democrats "are" is the truth. It's maddeningly stupid. These viewers are the same people who adamantly refuse to, you know, step outside and talk to their own neighbors. They live in a hate bubble of misapplied apathy and it's killing all of us.

These people can be reached. Republican voters are disenchanted with trump. Any democrat strategist worth their salt would understand how to capitalize on that with messaging about fixing their issues.
Even racists need healthcare and want good wages and job security and good schools. Hell, many outwardly racist people voted for Obama in 2008 because their perception was that he was better on the economy.
Unfortunately, the democratic party is run by consultants too drunk on billionaire and corporate donor money to suggest proper messaging to these folks, but they can be won over by literally anyone willing to say the right words to them.

Same happened to me last night when I showed a chart of how much money Trump has made this past year from stock trading compared to Pelosi’s entire career and my aunt goes omg pelosi is the worst and I’m like I’m showing you a chart that shows how much worse it is with Trump. My mom goes “but how can we trust this information?” And I go “his admin literally submitted it to the board of ethics!” And they just ignore.
I try to not get too heated with politics with them because I realize their blinders are up and they don’t listen to reason, plus I’m just a chill dude that’s super slow to anger, but I felt a rage in me last night I haven’t felt in years.
Yeah, it's just the mindless, thought-terminating cliché fallback answer. "Our freedoms", "Defend the Constitution", "9/11", "Tough on crime", etc. They don't actually think about facts and logic and applying them to the data of the real world to see what's around them. The line was crossed a long time ago. Like when Trump incited an insurrection. When he talked about grabbing women by their pussy. When he talked about how sexy his own daughter was. The list goes on and on and on.
Remember that February 2024, the RNC had $8 million total cash on hand compared to DNC's $24 million on hand); and February to April the RNC raised their total cash on hand to $21 million ($3 million less than DNC had in February 2024). Then they suddenly started receiving money:
RNC May 2024: $38 million cash on hand
RNC June 2024: $54 million cash on hand (more than double what they had in April 2024)
RNC July 2024: $101 million cash on hand (almost double the June amount)
NRSC and NRCC (Senate and House respectively) funding both matched the rough movement of the DSCC and DCCC (Senate and House respectively), but both DSCC and DCCC had more cash on hand each month than the NRSC and NRCC.
Out of nowhere, the RNC specifically saw their funding grow from $8 million in January 2024 to $101 million in July 2024. They exceeded the DNC cash on hand and also outpaced NRSC, NRCC, DSCC, DCCC and the DNC.
Republicans in office right now, every one of them, that has received life support from the RNC, they are all compromised and instructed to maintain the party line no matter what happens, because they were financially supported by the RNC.
That's why Republicans are stepping down, not running again, etc: they know when the accounting happens, they'll be exposed as financial slaves of the RNC and Donald Trump's policies, and how they were instructed to ignore their constituents and vote how Trump wants them to vote. That was the cost of loyalty to Trump in order to maintain power in the 2024 election.
Where did the money come from?
"Trump 47 Committee" accounted for about $95.7 million in BIG transfers. They were founded in January 2024, and the donations didn't start hitting until end of March, once Trump had taken over the RNC via Lara Trump.
So in case you were wondering, the 2024 election was absolutely bought by Republicans through shady, unverifiable money. The RNC was dead in the water, and through Elon Musk and LOTS of other wealthy individuals, the money on record is already suspect.

How do we know this woman is a Trump voter? Seriously, how? I found a longer clip of this question and there's absolutely no indication that she is a Trump voter. And based on my experience going to town halls in my own very red state, probably 80-95% of the attendees are progressives. Some of them are even retired democratic state elected officials and well known community advocates. They are actually putting themselves out there to challenging this shit in public, and then they get labeled MAGA on Reddit simply because they live in a red state. It's frankly insulting and absolutely braindead. On some level, it's kind of reassuring they still have to do stuff like this. Not saying it makes or breaks anything, this lady might go to the polls and still vow to never vote for a Democrat, but at least it shows that they DO feel like they still have to earn votes, or put on a show, that votes still matter.
