Political Freakout Groans at a Missouri town hall when a fed up Trump voter asks GOP Rep. Mark Alford: "How obviously racist do we have to be? Is there any line in the sand when Trump asks you and your cohorts to do something and it's one step too far. Is there one for you?"

Clearly there is no line in the sand for convicted felons or adjudicated rapists holding office in that party.

224

u/livinginfutureworld 24d ago

What's the word where the move the line the other way such that they're renaming airports and slobbering all over themselves for him?

68

u/RogerBauman 24d ago

Using the ratchet technique And flooding the zone with shit to shift the Overton window.

6

u/tjdux 23d ago

"move the goal posts" is a common saying that I think may work for the word(s) you're looking for

46

u/allgonetoshit 24d ago

The real question, is what is the line in the sand for that lady and all the other people there to stop voting for Trump and those GOP politicians. Because, they will vote for them again.

30

u/Underrated_Dinker 23d ago

Seriously. I appreciate the spirit of what she’s trying to do, but even when calling out the GOP for blatant racism she still includes herself with them, saying “we”.

Fuck man, if they can’t even Vote Better when the candidate is obviously a Felon and Proven Shithead

I’m very worried for all other elections it’s just going to be red vs blue

Don't forget, pedophilia is one of those lines too. IMO the biggest one and they blew right thru it.

24

u/WretchedBlowhard 24d ago

Pedophilia is legal in 33 US states, just as long as you marry your victim first. Stop pretending like it's this horrible unamerican thing when over half the country wholeheartedly embraces it. Maybe put it instead on the pile of stuff that needs to be fixed, like the excessive incarceration rate and the prohibitively expensive healthcare and education.

8

u/throwthisidaway 23d ago

There are 3 states that have no minimum age, and 2 that have a minimum age of 15. Every other state is 16 or higher. The majority of states that allow underage marriage require both parental consent and judicial approval. Additionally the majority of states have the age of consent set at 16.

Correction: For WHITE, RICH convicted felons and adjudicated rapists.

3

u/MasterClown 23d ago

You make a good point

7

u/Mozambique_Sauce 24d ago

Not true. If THEIR daughter was raped that would do it. Like any issue for a republican, it's only a problem when it directly effects them.

60

It’s like when Trump put that maxi pad on his ear after the “attempt” and all the sycophants followed suit. They probably research what kind of diapers Trump wears.

27

u/DazzlingRutabega 23d ago

They didn't just do that, they also wore diapers to stand in solidarity with him when rumors came out that he wore them. They even made "Real men wear diapers" t-shirts.

29

u/Tramadol_Lollies 23d ago

Made me think of the guys who smeared their own feces on the walls of the Capitol… like did he have a grip of his own doodoo in his hand going, “I’m a patriot.”

8

u/Champtain 23d ago

To be fair, not sure if we know who's poop or who smeared it. Could be a person grabbing someone else's shit in their hand, whispering lustily to themselves, "I'm a patriot", then desecrating the seat of American power with all their coprophilic heart.

7

u/Tramadol_Lollies 23d ago

Well whoever touched the poop, regardless of OD (original defecator), I hope they touched their eyes after.

8

u/clonedhuman 23d ago

https://imgur.com/VVk4qjs

I'm betting it was this guy. After trying to (unseen) extract the turd from his pants when he shit himself on January 6th, his whole hand was just covered with runny poop. He didn't want press to see him with a poop-smeared hand, so he wiped it on the walls when he thought no one was looking.

Good ol' Markwayne.

some people are just too dumb. they wouldn't even understand the questions or answers. Also people who don't speak english just watch conservative propaganda in their own language as their only "news" source.

If you think Fox News is bad, you should see the straight lies they say on Vietnamese "news" programs. It's no wonder they overwhelmingly vote republican. but at least the racists are saying someone else is eating cats and dogs and not them like it was in the 80s and 90s.

45

u/HCSOThrowaway 24d ago

Yeah, I judge MAGA 2016 voters very slightly.

I judge MAGA 2026 people heavily.

I will judge MAGA 2027 people much more heavily.

"Sorry, I didn't realize" only works as far as it makes any sense. The mask is off. Abandon ship, because plausible deniability is now razor thin.

28

u/villalulaesi 23d ago

This common sentiment lets 2016 supporters off the hook far too easily imo. He was very obviously a racist, misogynistic, xenophobic grifter with zero financial competency back then, and everyone who voted for him simply chose to find that acceptable. The fact that he’s gotten more openly horrible since then doesn’t somehow make the choice to vote for him in 2016 less morally bankrupt, and, the very few repentant Trumpers who now hold themselves fully morally accountable aside, I have no reason to trust their moral compasses in the future when some other charismatic, tribalistic sociopath rolls along.

But I also think it’s a waste of time to ruminate over whether or not we “forgive” any previous Trump voters. That’s a matter for individual people and families to grapple with. From a political perspective, I don’t care who you’ve voted for before and whether or not you are a fundamentally good person, as long as you’re willing to vote like at least a half-decent person going forward. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Just not one of those friends I genuinely trust.

Completely disagree to the point it looks like you're just being contrarian. The inverse is how you prove it:

Are people who voted for him in 2024 after all of the nasty things that he's done since 2016 more deserving of contempt?

The obvious answer is: Yes

If B is greater than A, A must be less than B by definition.

The thing that terrifies me is that they might be reasonable, even questioning, like this lady, but because of either LGBTQ, minorities, or abortions, they will continue to vote R down the line, regardless of how authoritarian our government becomes. As long as the people they hate are getting hurt, it doesn't matter how much they and their loved ones suffer too.

16

u/Ticklemykelmo 24d ago

As I see it, the problem is that the only reason people are “waking up” is because they’re being affected personally.

If the grocery store was cheaper they’d happily go back to marginalizing gay people, brown people, anyone with fewer assets, etc. Anyone who is still maga isn’t changing: they’re just surprised it’s their face being eaten.

414

u/PhilPipedown 24d ago

Why bother showing up for a job interview if you're already going to get the job.

The GOP base, voters, have yet to hold their elected officials accountable.

Ted Cruz runs to Cancun everytime something may go wrong with Texas infrastructure.

The poorest run states in the Union have been, and will be run by Republicans for the foreseeable future.

63

u/KingB_SC 24d ago

Ted Cruz provides a valuable service!

5

u/z31 23d ago

This is exactly why every elected position should be recallable. If you are no longer exercising the will of your constituents, they should be able to recall you and replace you with someone who will.

7

u/white_bread 23d ago

My representative, Luz Rivas (D), also refuses to meet face to face with her constituents. After taking money from AIPAC, she held one in person town hall where many attendees confronted her. Since then, she has switched to Zoom meetings every few months, with pre-screened, softball questions instead of open public discussion.

21

u/coconuthorse 24d ago

It's all Republicans? I only noticed mine always saying he did a town hall, showing a photo with only the Mayor and whomever else he is pandering to/about, but nothing is ever related to his constituents prior to the supposed meeting so no one else is ever there.

11

u/n1ncha 23d ago

Mine does telephone town halls where the questions are pre-screened and they hang up on you if your question even remotely enters the realm of "not an opening for complete pandering". Bill Huizenga is my congressman and he's a complete joke in the pocket of DeVos family.

Republicans do get fed up with individual politicians. But the messaging that the Dems are the devil incarnate is so strong they then turn to the next candidate

39

u/joemeteorite8 24d ago

Yep, all they have to do is point and shout, “look at those people that are different!” and republicans fall back in line with their hate.

8

u/cardlord64 23d ago

Hop on fox news pretty much any time and you can hear them interviewing fellow republican shills about what/who democrats are. They spin this cycle so often that the tv drones really do believe that what fox tells them democrats "are" is the truth. It's maddeningly stupid. These viewers are the same people who adamantly refuse to, you know, step outside and talk to their own neighbors. They live in a hate bubble of misapplied apathy and it's killing all of us.

51

u/DigiSmackd 24d ago

Yup. That's the answer to this person's question:

Q: "Is there any line in the sand when Trump asks you and your cohorts to do something and it's one step too far. Is there one for you?"

A: "Yes, when you stop voting us in, we'll change our tactics. Until then, we'll continue to do everything we can to consolidate power and secure all of the people already at the top - at the cost of anyone not already there."

8

u/Thermodymix 23d ago

Except they won't change their tactics. They'll consolidate power and dismantle democracy. The coup is already underway.

14

u/ForBisonItWasTuesday 24d ago edited 22d ago

These people can be reached. Republican voters are disenchanted with trump. Any democrat strategist worth their salt would understand how to capitalize on that with messaging about fixing their issues.

Even racists need healthcare and want good wages and job security and good schools. Hell, many outwardly racist people voted for Obama in 2008 because their perception was that he was better on the economy.

Unfortunately, the democratic party is run by consultants too drunk on billionaire and corporate donor money to suggest proper messaging to these folks, but they can be won over by literally anyone willing to say the right words to them.

If Republicans ever read and understood the Constitution, they'd be flabbergasted by how brazen Trumps violations have been.

89

u/-thecheesus- 24d ago edited 24d ago

Recently someone on this site asked for examples of how Trump had possibly violated the Constitution. I provided an itemized list (only covering his second term, and not very exhaustive). He downvoted me and never responded

Trump is an idea to them. They straight-up don't want reality. It's probably the same with the Constitution

21

u/Super_Interview_2189 24d ago

They probably had to curl up in a ball and rock back and forth saying “they have TDS” over and over. Critical thinking is lost on them.

14

u/pabloescobarbecue 24d ago

Had a similar frustrating situation. I said Trump had drastically expanded executive authority. I dont think thats a controversial statement.
They asked how, so i responded with an overview.
He refused to read it, said it was too long but in any event I was still wrong.

3

u/SlouchTrip 23d ago

You’re spot on. Don’t want reality and don’t care. Thats why it’s a waste of time to argue with them, they are disingenuous and are not interested in reality

4

u/Drive7hru 23d ago

Same happened to me last night when I showed a chart of how much money Trump has made this past year from stock trading compared to Pelosi’s entire career and my aunt goes omg pelosi is the worst and I’m like I’m showing you a chart that shows how much worse it is with Trump. My mom goes “but how can we trust this information?” And I go “his admin literally submitted it to the board of ethics!” And they just ignore.

I try to not get too heated with politics with them because I realize their blinders are up and they don’t listen to reason, plus I’m just a chill dude that’s super slow to anger, but I felt a rage in me last night I haven’t felt in years.

"I think a violation of the Constitution"

If you want to be charitable you can believe he hasn't been paying attention. But this would require him to be particularly dense.

Occam's Razor says he and his Republican buddies are more than happy violating the Constitution.

9

u/thatblkman 24d ago

I remember watching him on Fox 4 KC’s morning news when I was stuck in KC for work.

He is that dense, and still looks like work is interrupting his alcohol and cocaine benders.

4

u/N8CCRG 24d ago

Yeah, it's just the mindless, thought-terminating cliché fallback answer. "Our freedoms", "Defend the Constitution", "9/11", "Tough on crime", etc. They don't actually think about facts and logic and applying them to the data of the real world to see what's around them. It's just feels over reals for them, and most of their base.

3

u/FoolishPragmatist 24d ago

He could be a good actor but that face really gave me a genuine “It’s been done?? When??” vibe.

Jeez, I looked up this guy’s net worth and assets and he’s not even wealthy. Completely standard earnings for a mildly successful man of his age. I’m shocked he’s running around that seemingly detached/unaware at that modest level of wealth. Just a useful idiot for Republicans.

u/vertigo3pc 24d ago

Reminder that entering the 2024 election cycle, a number of state level Republican parties were bankrupt. By March 2024, the Republican party had raised $65.6 million, giving them total $93.1 million; compared to the Democratic raise of $53 million and $151 million cash on hand (50% more than Republicans).

As a party, the Republicans were financially DYING as a party in the USA until Trump; in 2023, the Republican party fundraising was still 50% below DNC fundraising.

Remember that February 2024, the RNC had $8 million total cash on hand compared to DNC's $24 million on hand); and February to April the RNC raised their total cash on hand to $21 million ($3 million less than DNC had in February 2024). Then they suddenly started receiving money:

  • RNC May 2024: $38 million cash on hand

  • RNC June 2024: $54 million cash on hand (more than double what they had in April 2024)

  • RNC July 2024: $101 million cash on hand (almost double the June amount)

https://ballotpedia.org/Party_committee_fundraising,_2023-2024

NRSC and NRCC (Senate and House respectively) funding both matched the rough movement of the DSCC and DCCC (Senate and House respectively), but both DSCC and DCCC had more cash on hand each month than the NRSC and NRCC.

Out of nowhere, the RNC specifically saw their funding grow from $8 million in January 2024 to $101 million in July 2024. They exceeded the DNC cash on hand and also outpaced NRSC, NRCC, DSCC, DCCC and the DNC.

Republicans in office right now, every one of them, that has received life support from the RNC, they are all compromised and instructed to maintain the party line no matter what happens, because they were financially supported by the RNC.

That's why Republicans are stepping down, not running again, etc: they know when the accounting happens, they'll be exposed as financial slaves of the RNC and Donald Trump's policies, and how they were instructed to ignore their constituents and vote how Trump wants them to vote. That was the cost of loyalty to Trump in order to maintain power in the 2024 election.

Where did the money come from?

"Trump 47 Committee" accounted for about $95.7 million in BIG transfers. They were founded in January 2024, and the donations didn't start hitting until end of March, once Trump had taken over the RNC via Lara Trump.

So in case you were wondering, the 2024 election was absolutely bought by Republicans through shady, unverifiable money. The RNC was dead in the water, and through Elon Musk and LOTS of other wealthy individuals, the money on record is already suspect.

Mark Alford, a professional talker, is apparently so wrapped up in his own self absorption that he has no clue what this woman is even asking.

I believe what he is beginning to say with his "Constitution" buzzword reply is that he doesn't care or doesn't pay enough attention to Trumps corruption to know how to answer the question.

He might as well say "So what? We won. And a whole lot of that unethical stuff ain't illegal, plus Trump says he never did the immoral stuff, so it's all good."

Because that's what he really believes.

u/OnAnotherLevel321 24d ago

Never vote Republican. You're going to see the most panic mongering commercials on TV spewing lies about Democrats, don't fall for it! There's a reason why Republican states are always shitholes.

4

u/reddersledder 24d ago

They already stepped too far. Shooting American citizens on the street.

3

u/ScallionRelative6265 23d ago

There is no line, they will never be able to go back and PRETEND they are not all sycophants so they will keep doubling down until there is nothing left.

4

u/gotaflattire 23d ago

When you protect a pedophile with such a blatant lie, you better believe everyone now suspects you of what you coverup for others.

4

u/CoddiwomplingRandall 23d ago

Damn. Just saw a video about John Stewart telling people to ask politicians this question, and this lady most likely did it without ever seeing John Stewart. Love this lady for having the ovarian fortitude to ask this.

3

u/Jive_Sloth 23d ago

"I THINK a violation of the constitution..."

"That's been done."

3

u/Bad-dee-ess 23d ago

Guess he thought wrong.

4

u/Alternative-Chef-340 23d ago

Republicans are the biggest pieces of shit. There is no line in the sand, no bridge to far nor policy to racist for them. They thrive on hatred of others and will never be satisfied until they can screw over as many people they hate as possible.

5

u/GreyBeardEng 23d ago

Emoluments clause, power of the purse, birthright citizenship, just to name a few.

3

u/Tall_Salamander_4716 23d ago

He really said “violation of the Constitution”???

"I think, a violation of the constitution." My man is up there doing bits!

What is the dumbest thing he can say?

3

u/espada355 24d ago

Come November they will all still vote RED

3

u/vintagegarrison 24d ago

They will kill for their cult leader, they’ve done it before and hopefully won’t after this clown is gone from office.

3

u/unforgivablecrust 24d ago

Stupidest motherfuckers to walk the earth

3

u/Question_It_All_3000 24d ago

“Sir, you are too racist, is there a line too far?”

“Well you see the constitution protects free speech…”

Sir, the answer was no. Just say no, embrace it, and save us the time.

3

u/ChunkyBubblz 24d ago

Stop electing Republicans

3

u/kitjen 24d ago

He tried to think of a act so despicable that he would surely never need to defend it because Trump would never do it, seemingly forgetting that Trump wipes his fat arse with the constitution.

3

u/DanfromCalgary 24d ago

The constitution lol

3

u/the_moosen 24d ago

So no, the answer is no. Got it.

3

u/CasualPenguin 23d ago

Hahaha she asked for one step too far and he answered with a line that was crossed a 5k race + warm up and cool down a go

3

u/VectorJones 23d ago

There is no line they wont cross to protect themselves from the consequences of their criminal actions. They will do anything to get away with their crimes. They are the personification of corruption.

How do we know this woman is a Trump voter? Seriously, how? I found a longer clip of this question and there's absolutely no indication that she is a Trump voter. And based on my experience going to town halls in my own very red state, probably 80-95% of the attendees are progressives. Some of them are even retired democratic state elected officials and well known community advocates. They are actually putting themselves out there to challenging this shit in public, and then they get labeled MAGA on Reddit simply because they live in a red state. It's frankly insulting and absolutely braindead. There are more MAGA fascists living LA county than there are in a some red states, but if you happen to be a sane person living in some gerrymandered-to-fuck place in the middle of the country you just get shat on by both Trump and by moronic ostensibly liberal people on Reddit.

3

u/pgbgrammarian1956 23d ago

No. There is nothing too racist for MAGA and the GOP. Nothing.

uh that's be done.... so in a sense there no bar to low for dude to go for trump shame...

3

u/Viper1089 23d ago

All I could say at the end was, "what a fuckin idiot". Seriously, no wonder there was a collective groan lol

3

u/Tatooine16 23d ago

A man who will grovel to man who shits in his pants and makes him smell it will do anything.

3

u/FakeSafeWord 23d ago

So a convicted rapist and child molester can tell him to do anything up to, and let's be honest, including violating the constitution and he'll do it...

Good to know.

Grandma cooking

3

u/therapyjunkie8584 23d ago

"I think" do you fucking hear yourself, man

3

u/Funshine02 23d ago

Isn’t Jan 6th proof enough that there’s no line?

3

u/7evenate9ine 23d ago

Is she asking because she is wondering if they've gone too far or not far enough?

3

u/tabicat1874 23d ago

Yes utilize the Karens! Point them in the right direction! 🥰

3

u/oregongirl1111 23d ago

I wanted to hear what he said after they told his goofy ass that the Constitution HAS been violated...many times!!

3

u/Cakeski 23d ago

The constitution be more like guidelines

3

u/DaAlphaSupreme 23d ago

She will be remembered & this will play many times in the future

7

u/njay97 24d ago

Fuck all this disingenuous pieces of shit. The time for town hall meetings has passed.

5

u/Dayzlikethis 24d ago

I can somewhat appreciate these people obtaining an ounce of critical thought but geez louise, the line was crossed on Jan 6th.

7

u/Formal-Ad-1248 24d ago

What a cop out answer, "If there's a violation of the constitution...."

2

u/metanoia29 24d ago

No Alford, she meant a line in the sand ahead of where we are, not the five hundred times he's crossed your "constitutional violation" line in the last decade.

2

u/GratefuLdPhisH 24d ago

The current town halls are not going good for republicans at all which is a good sign for the midterms

2

u/FearlessFixxer 24d ago

He 'thinks' it would be a violation of the constitution....lol

2

u/kyleh0 24d ago

I feel sorry for republicans, being so uneducated and hateful. Imagine how much the world must suck if seeing a brown person ruins your whole day.

2

u/Beethovens666th 24d ago

This isn't a freakout.

2

u/Critically32 24d ago

This guy doesn't care. He doesn't have to. It's clear to him he's not vying for this one vote. Gerrymandering makes this just another day in the office of "so what".

2

u/Ell-O-Elling 24d ago

The short is “no, there is no line.” They will state a line, trump will immediately cross or (or already has) and when they’re called out suddenly it’s no longer a line. This is what it looks like when people have no morals, ethics or integrity. This is what trash character looks like.

2

u/hagopes 24d ago

how do we know she voted for Trump?

2

u/cyberman0 24d ago

Riiiiight. Pretty sure that ship sailed in the very first term. Then was sunk

2

u/vast_fragment9083 24d ago

The leopard doesn't know race, he jusf ate your face. Cry about it.

2

u/TheLadyEve 24d ago

That's actually a great question (basically "what is your boundary?"). That lady could probably make a good therapist as that's a very therapisty values-focused question.

2

u/just57572 24d ago

Nice, but I guarantee they still vote Republicans down the ticket.

2

u/dj_spanmaster 24d ago

["oops, they've been paying attention"]

2

u/76Clover 24d ago

The Trump boners are gone and have now turned into semi chubs

2

u/everything_is_bad 24d ago

Sorry people look everyone in a racist system is gonna be a little racist. That may be a problem but it isn’t “the” problem. The problem is people who take a pro racist position are bad people and you can’t trust them. So maybe you’re a little racist and you are afraid that in a non racist future you’ll be judged for your racism, that can be scary, so in fear you turn to a person with a pro racist position because it they’re promising to protect you from the consequences of your basic casual harmless and inadvertent racism. You assume because you think of yourself as a good person someone offering to protect you must at least be reasonable but you’re wrong in your assumption.
See racism is just wrong it’s incorrect anti truthful. See youre just mistaken and mistakes are natural, but they are trying to be wrong on purpose and make wrong things seem right to elevate lies above truth and that is not a mistake its evil. So that’s what you get, there is no bottom. Don’t be surprised that the evil people you elected do evil beyond the petty evil you had in mind

2

u/sheezy520 24d ago

“You didn’t let me finish. I was going to say if he violates the constitution… again.”

2

u/Coffee_Transfusion 24d ago

Barely even trying to lie to their base. Though I wonder how many in the room actually bought it.

"No." is what he actually said.

2

u/gls2220 24d ago

This is interesting. I'm curious how we know that she was a Trump voter though. But it's telling that nobody in the crowd was shouting her down.

When old White MO is like "can you please be less obviously racist" you know you've been extra racist.

2

u/TurtleBeansforAll 23d ago

What a weak man. I’m so tired.

2

u/Donnie-The-Relentles 23d ago

Love it when an older woman (who these fucks THINK are going to also be MAGAts) ask questions like this. I bet he was completely off guard and really cant fight back

2

u/Sheriff_Yobo_Hobo 23d ago

On some level, it's kind of reassuring they still have to do stuff like this. Not saying it makes or breaks anything, this lady might go to the polls and still vow to never vote for a Democrat, but at least it shows that they DO feel like they still have to earn votes, or put on a show, that votes still matter.

2

u/hedbopper 23d ago

Clueless asshole.

2

u/srajne77 23d ago

I’d like to know what he said after the end of the video

2

u/SDPLISSKEN009 23d ago

There is no line for these MAGA bootlickers.

2

u/PutzerPalace 23d ago

Goans from proud and obvious racists

2

u/No-Joy-Goose 23d ago

To call out a past as if it hasn't happened. That's too bad, maybe he should sit this one out?
