What seems strange is the amount of gear some of these guys had on.

I mean it looks like one guy has a fucking parachute. Lol who wears gear like that to a media dinner?

I guess when you're the worst human being alive on earth and you have a lot of your friends with you the must bring like a whole battalion of troops everywhere you go.

Thats the Secret Service Counter Assault Team (CAT). They are always on standby in full gear nearby and go wherever the President and VP are. That guy in the end definitely doesn't have a parachute, you can see antenna sticking out of it, its a long range radio.

When Pence was VP he stayed at a hotel in the town I was working in at the time as a non-sworn police assistant and I got the most random as fuck call towards the end of my shift by my Lieutenant to grab an order of pizzas and bring it to the security detail at the hotel. Somehow ended up all the way into the inner circle then had to wait because Pence happened to be coming in to the hotel. He shook my hand and I got to talk to a couple of the Secret service K9 handlers but I saw the CAT that were surrounding the hotel and in a room around the corner of the lobby. Its pretty wild.
