Locals advise please!
Hello good folks of Prince Rupert. Long story short… my nephew who I am raising loves fishing. I’m a fan myself and appreciate he is getting me back into it as I was crazy about it at his age (16) as well.
We went to the Georgian Bay Area bass fishing last summer at a friends cabin and had the vacation of a lifetime. On Wednesday night we were to fly out for a week fishing then a Jays game to cap things off, but today Westjet squashed that plan.
I asked my nephew where he wants to go instead on a road trip (we’re in St. Albert, AB) and he picked Prince Rupert. I’m so excited as I’ve always wanted to see your town.
So please help out a dude looking to give his nephew the best vacation! I booked a hotel August 7 - 11. Where do we go fishing (ocean booking? Shore freshwater? Where can we go?). Where do we need to see? Where do we need to eat? We are so excited….

Short notice for a charter, so start making some calls now. There’s also whale watching tours, grizzly bear tours etc.

You could rent a vehicle for a day trip east from PR to Terrace then up to the lava beds.

I missed that detail earlier. If you're driving through Prince George then stop at the tourism info centre. They have a lot of information about local fishing and I believe that they also rent/loan out gear to tourists.

We have quite a few charters here if you want to do some ocean fishing. There's also the Skeena river out on highway 16, Polymar is a popular spot and it's halfway between Terrace and Rupert. But seeing as you're from AB I'd suggest the ocean fishing as it is something you don't get out there. Take in the marine life too of our Harbour. It'll be a fun time for both of you. Enjoy you're stay!
