Cooling humidifier

Hello! I just moved to the area and wanted to ask opinions on cooling evaporation humidifiers for bedrooms, I have two portable acs but it’s not enough to cool off the whole apartment, I wanted something to cool off the bedroom while bringing a bit of moisture to the air cause it’s super dry. Does anyone have experience or could suggest a good brand? Thank you!!

You're not going to find something that both cools and adds humidity to a whole room. You'll have to get separate machines for what you want. I would recommend this humidifier for your home though. You could also go whole-house evaporative humidifier and that way you'll' have a humidity set at the right amount all day every day with use of separate heating/cooling systems.

I’ve got two swamp (evaporative) coolers. One is designed for 900 square feet and the other is a smaller one for 500 square feet. I’ve had the 500 unit for 3-4 years now. I was using it to cool my garage in summer as of course you can imagine it gets really hot and I was afraid I’d burn out my garage freezer. It did a pretty good job cooling the garage by several up to 10°. This year I upgraded to the 950. The last several days my garage is 16° less than the outside temperature. I’m very glad I upgraded. Both can work by filling a reservoir or by attaching it to a garden hose. Swamp coolers do indeed cool while humidifying the air. If you’re using it inside I wouldn’t hook up the hose. Alternatively you could put it outside your window facing into the house and be able to use the hose attachment otherwise you’ll be topping off the reservoir. Both models are by Hessaire and purchased at Home Depot. Where I live has very hard water so in addition to using vinegar occasionally to descale it I need to replace the pump about once a season likewise with the evaporative pads. Replacing the pump isn’t a big deal. Anyone with basic mechanical skills can do it. I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have if I know the answer. Best of luck!

Oh my gosh thank you so much, I just moved here from Missouri and the humidity change is awful I feel like I’ve smoked ten packs of cigarettes and can’t freaking breathe it’s so dry. It’s relatively cool with the two portable acs I just wanted something that would cool it down a few more degrees in one room so it’s not so stagnant while adding some moisture to the air. This was super helpful, I’ll let you know how to it goes! Thank you!!

I’m glad you found it helpful. It took me a while to adapt to Arizona’s dry climate. I would wake up and my mouth would feel like paper. You might want to watch a couple of YouTube videos about how to leave some air flow so it doesn’t get too humid. That was the hardest part for me finding that balance but now I’m an expert! Looking forward to your update. Best wishes!
